I don’t know then, but that string certainly doesn’t sound right. It sounds way too low to my ears. I was playing along with you, and mine sounds very different (my video is still uploading, but you can have a listen when it’s done). I’m at about the same point you are, and I’m really going to push myself to get this done this month. I’ll try to upload videos of my progress as I master each theme.

In addition to what Andrew said, while all low G strings will sound a bit boomy and you can adjust your technique to account for that. Some are boomier than others. From memory, the wound Aquila is on the boomy end of the spectrum. The string that I’ve found kills the boominess best is the Aquila Red single unwound low G string (https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Aquila-RED-Tenor-Ukulele-String-4th-Unwound-Low-G-Tuning-72U-Single-String-/131698908341) (Uke Republic also has them). While it is the most effective for killing boominess, it is NOT what I currently have on my uke, nor is it my favourite low G. So far, I haven’t found a better one than the Freemont Soloist.
I have to disagree with Andrew on one point. He said that there are two types of people and that Rockclass101 isn’t really for the first type. However, I am definitely the first type, and I still get a lot out of the lessons here.
Thanks for the link to one of Katie’s videos Kanae. My wife thinks she’s great. She gets intimidated by the stuff on here, but Katie’s stuff is right at her level.
Not sure about camp grounds. When I was a kid we used to stay in Bicheno, and there are lots around the Bichen/Coles Bay area. Lots of hikes around there too. I recently stayed at Discovery Cradle Mountain, and that was pretty good too, but it’s a long way to travel.
As for day hikes, I’m a big fan of the Hartz Mountains National Park, but it depends on the area you’re headed to. If you don’t plan on leaving the Hobart area, Mt. I have a question about the vibrato. Let’s take bar 4 for example. Should I do the vibrato (side to side) with the entire B minor chord, or should I just do the vibrato (up/down) on the B that is played on the G string?
Personally, while I think it would be ideal to play it for the entire chord, I really struggle to do it and I think it sounds good to just do it on the G string.
And while I’m waiting for the lesson, I’ve been practicing the transition between Em and Bm to start it off 😉
Oh hey, I just listened to Taimane play moon on Youtube and apart from the length it actually seems quite manageable. I might give it a go!

Oh wow, I had noticed that uke on the Uke Republic website. It is absolutely gorgeous. I hope you like it. Do you have any idea what species of Eucalyptus it is made from?
Thanks Andrew. I admit that I’ve naturally gravitated to alternating between the fingers, but I’ll try to just use the thumb and see how I go.

Hi Andrew,
I’m working on the Walking Dead Theme, and you talked about alternating between the middle and index finger when plucking the A string repeatedly but you just use your thumb when plucking the G string repeatedly. I was wondering if there is a reason for doing this over alternating between your thumb and your index finger.
