I’m in the worst situation here – I have already submitted something for the challenges, but I’ve got very little to choose from. It’s probably going to be “The Path of the Wind”, but I reserve the right to change my mind. I’ve just started music production studies, so I’m going to make this a ukulele production challenge! I want to record myself in a studio at school on a proper microphone, with monitors, and process the recording in some way in Ableton. And I’m not going to do it 3 hours before the deadline 😛

Update 4:
I finished the Ultimate Beginner’s Guide. A recording might follow 😉
For now, here is my take on The Path of the Wind:

I need to buy a better microphone, the one in the laptop cuts off a half of the sound…

The 3rd time’s the charm!
I traveled 120 km to a ukulele store, where I tested many ukuleles and picked the one with the best intonation, which turned out to be a cheap composite ebony tenor. It’s a little smaller than most tenors, which solves my problem of being unable to decide between a tenor and a concert 🙂

Update 3:
I’m on the final song of the Definitive Beginner’s Guide. I can play most of “The Path of the Wind” fluently, but I mess up every time I’m trying to record it xD I’m going to give myself another week to refine these two pieces (plus “Happy birthday” for another birthday in January) and then move on to playing other things.

I’ve got one more question. Can a luthier fix the tuning of an ukulele? I bought a new one (for 400 euro, which is very expensive from my point of view) and I really like the sound, but it’s out of tune from the 6. fret up 🙁 Would you return it or risk a luthier?

I can’t test a good ukulele where I live, they only have the cheapest ones in music stores around here.

Aaaand… Bad luck again. This ukulele is so badly out of tune I can’t 🙁 I don’t know whether I should return it or if a luthier can fix this…

Update 2:
I had a bad week and didn’t play much. I’m on module 5 of the Definitive Beginner’s Guide. Part 2 of The Path of the Wind is still challenging. One good thing is, I managed to produce harmonics for the first time 🙂
