Congratulations @deadbuggy You rocked this Challenge πŸ™‚

2 Weeks ago I posted a rough “take 1” of Smash the Windows to make the deadline for this Irish Music Challenge… BUT I’ve still been working on it everyday!

Please check out this “take 2” – It’s faster and smoother! I’m quite pleased with this one πŸ™‚ Happy Spring/Autumn to all my Uke Friends out there!!!

    Salutations Uke-Friends.

I’ve been working on this fun arrangement of Smash the Windows this month. But I got a late start and have been really busy. This video is a bit rough. I think I still need several hours of dedicated practice but I have to work all day on March 30 and 31 so here’s my best take πŸ™‚ I plan to keep workin’ on it because I really like this arrangement and want to really learn it!

Awesome! That is similar. We went from not really thinking about the Uke… to obsession!

@gi_gi_ I started playing guitar around 12 years old (I’m 42 now). I got pretty good but I hit a plateau in my late 20s early 30s when I had young kids and I was really into tea and tea culture. Making music was not a big part of my life during those years.

I’ve been into the Uke for 9 years now! Before 2015 I never had any interest in the ukulele. In a way I have Marie Kondo to thank for getting me into the instrument. A friendly regular customer at the teashop I worked for asked me one day, totally out of the blue, if I wanted an old ukulele. She said she was reading The Art of Tidying Up and getting rid of things in her house that no longer sparked joy πŸ™‚ I said “sure, why not, I’ll give it a try” – And I’m so glad I did ’cause once I started messing around with it I quickly fell in love.

    Hi Uke Friends!

    Thanks for the kind words.

I have perfect attendance going all the way back to the very first RC101 monthly challenge (nearly 7 years ago!)

Here’s my St. Anne’s Reel video from October 2020 Member Challenge. (I love playing this arrangement!)

    Hi Uke Friends πŸ™‚

This month I challenged myself to improve my artificial harmonics and tapping technique skills. For some harmonics practice I learned RC101’s Amazing Graze and posted it on my IG.

I spent most of my January trying to learn the tune “Love” by Matt White as arranged by our awesome teacher Andrew. Here’s my best attempt at that fun and TAP-Y piece!

    Thanks for the Suggestions Andrew!

    I think I’ll try both!

    1) Execution – I want to get better at tapping and artificial harmonics. My current state of Uke playing is upper-intermediate to advanced level for chords and finger style but I believe I’m at a much lower skill level for tapping and artificial harmonics. My plan to work toward this goal is to try learning RC101’s Amazing Grace with Harmonics lesson and Love by Matt White which has some sweet tapping parts. I already practice ukulele for over and hour most days, that schedule will remain this January with a focus on these two lessons.

    2) Application – I will watch RC101’s videos and play the pieces over and over again until I get them down.

    3) Evaluation – I have a habit of doing this already with all the monthly RC101 member challenges. Every month my wife hears me playing the same thing over and over all month long as I get better and I report to her… Saying things like… “That was closer but I’ve still never played it 100%” Or… “I reached the point where I can play it accurately but now yet at speed”

Andrew, do you have a suggestion for one of your songs/lessons for me if I want to work on tapping and / or artificial harmonics?

Fun Stuff! Thanks for the challenges Andrew.

(I was Avatar Aang for Halloween this year! In my opinion Avatar the Last Airbender is tied with Steven Universe as the best cartoon series ever made. I’d recommend it to anyone reading this no matter how old they are πŸ™‚

I look forward to hearing folk’s play these lovely Uke tunes!
