Hi everyone its Sarrafina. I am a big Simon and Garfunkel fan and I love the Song “The Sound of Silence”
For this months challenge I transposed it from Tenor/concert High G to Baritone. Overall I really like the song on the Baritone. Some of the transitions can be challenging keeping everything smooth.
Having my dad handle recording duties helps a lot and this was recorded on an Iphone 13 Pro Max connected to a MOTU M6 digital interface with a Blue Baby Bottle mic just out of the shot.
I would love everyone’s feedback!

My project was River Flows in You by Yiruma. To complete it I needed to transpose and write a new arrangement for it. There is a version of it on Rock Class however like most it is incomplete.
This is due in part to the fact that the original piece is written for piano with quite a few notes in the lower register. Tackling it on classical guitar is a lot easier because you have those two extra strings to handle the bass lines.
I started out by downloading MuseScore which has been an amazing tool in helping me create this arrangement.
In the middle of all of this were my HS Midterms so I have been doing this for an hour here and two hours there attempting to get a finished product.
We recorded it straight to camera with an LR Baggs pickup in a bamboo Kala Uke using a Canon XA35. My Dad did the final editing on Divinci and did no retouching of the sound.
We even figured out how to link the PDF for the arrangement in the video description.
I would love your comments and feedback!
Enjoy,
Sarrafina.

I know it’s been a bit since I’ve posted anything, however I’m back and ready to kick off the New Year with this amazing challenge!Song title: ‘River Flows in You’ by Yiruma
1) Execution: This piece was originally made for piano and has been arranged for the guitar and ukulele, with most ukulele arrangements excluding the last 1/3 of the piece, including the bridge. Currently, I am working on transposing the complete guitar arrangement to the ukulele. I am a high intermediate to budding advanced player and by the end of January I plan to have a complete and clean arrangement of ‘River Flows in You’. I also plan to have basic notation along with my arrangement. I’ll spend about 30 minutes of my practice session working on this beautiful song, 7 days a week.
2) Application: I’ll be using the techniques I’m learning to create my version of ‘River Flows in You’ to create other arrangements and add my own touch to others songs I am currently learning.
3) Evaluation: I’ll be keeping track of what I’m doing on an Excel sheet and 1-2 times a week I will video-record myself to see what works and what doesn’t. The beauty of arranging, as would Matt say, is if it sounds good, it works.Happy 2024 everyone!

This month I picked Etude Number 6. Putting a lot more emphasis on my timing as that is one of my bigger challenges.November 30, 2022 at 11:18 pm #54894sarrafinaParticipantI am a Premium Member
This month I did Luigi’s Mansion Theme. The most challenging part was the 16th notes and it was fun to learn.

March 31, 2022 at 11:39 pm #51356sarrafinaParticipantFor this months challenge I played the Explorer. I had already started on it prior to the challenge so I spent a lot of time cleaning up notes and working to reduce string noise.

Hi this is Sarrafina and for this months challenge I played Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer.
It was fun learning to play a holiday classic. Perhaps the most challenging part was getting the pacing down.Would love your feedback!
Happy Holidays!
