@tric_o_tronic – great job! I think you’ve got a great base established. What I’d do moving forward is to work on memorizing it and tightening up the timing.

Take a 4 bar section, memorize it and play along with the tab player. The rhythm track (bass & cajon) will help keep you locked into the groove. Loop those 4 bars and when you feel comfortable, try the next 4 bars. Then go back and do 1-8. Work your way through the tune with that method 🙂

Hi. Here is my attempt at Loke Lani. A lot of room for improvement, but I’m pleased with the progress so far – I still need to work some more on increasing my reach for the stretch chords, building up speed, and increasing flow. However, two weeks ago, I couldn’t make any sound with the stretch chords and had never attempted a triplet strum. I’m hoping to submit a second song by the end of the month, having just started to learn Hone A Ka Wai. Thank you for making these challenges so varied. Looking forward to seeing what’s in store for us next month!

I just finished my recording for Hone A Ka Wai and then saw the comment you gave to @hiloukes, Andrew. I think I will use your fingering recommendation to improve on my walk-ups from the first fret. Thanks!

    Awesome work everyone!

    Hi

Hope everone is doing well. Here’s my stab at Day-o. Getting the 2 and 3 string plucking to sound good was challenging. I haven’t figured out what’s wrong with my microphone yet.

Okay so this is CLEARLY a progress video because there is a LOT of rough spots. I have a terrible habit of playing songs I may not be ready for but I enjoy it so much. Watching back I need to work on strum timing / transition between sections aren’t smooth enough and I had a lot of ghost notes and accidental notes. BUT got through the entire song. I’m not sure how I want to mix all the different parts of this song together or if I’m going to upload myself playing the backing track yet.

I’m learning to use this software to make virtual concerts for my kids so this duet was the perfect way to practice. My video skills have been improving since this whole shutdown thing started but what I’ve learned most of all from staring at videos of myself is…….I make alot of weird faces when I play.

Oh, well. What a fun piece, I had a great time learning it and just listening to everyone play all of this month’s picks in general. Fun theme! Thanks Evan and Andrew! Stay safe out there, everyone 🙂

Alright! First time posting A video here.

I’m trying hone a ka wai! Been practicing 3 days so far. first Hawaiian song for me.

The steady pace is a challenge… Still a lot of mistakes in there.

I read that you need to mention if you’re a premium member for the raffle so… I AM A PREMIUM MEMBER

I have been a member since mid-November and this is the first time I’ve sent in an entry. Loke Lani was quite the challenge for me. I went through your Beginner’s Guide series and I have practiced and practiced that D bar chord section, but it’s still a rough patch. I have made vast improvements since taking on the challenge.
