camperParticipant@The_Bumble_Bard Merry Christmas. Sorry but the sound on your video was to where I could not hear anything. But your fingering sure looked gracefully good.

AndrewKeymaster@richo_uke – Bravo! Your performance was great! For a song with as many jumps as this one, I don’t think it’s best to work on reading/playing at the same time. Memorizing is best as you can focus on the actual playing. I wouldn’t worry about the one stumble. As this song repeats, you aced that section the first time. No worries on the second time 🙂
Keep up the great work and thank you for you donation and kind words, Rici! 🙂

Once again, so many great songs to choose from. After playing around for about a week finally decided on Nutcracker March / Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy. So here is my try at it, and With my new little Kanilea, Love, Love, Love it!!
Oh, and what a great Charity to support, The Ukulele Kids club!! I sent them some support as well.

@andrew I made a $20 donation to the ukulele kids club.
I had hoped to practice a few more days to try to improve this, but holiday prep and work are time consuming so here it is. I hope that in the future I will get to a place where I feel I am performing instead of just playing and just getting through it (though I am having a lot of fun). This was a difficult piece. I practices both strumming the beginning and plucking. Actually like the sound of strumming best, but did not get an acceptable recording of that. I tried Stephens technique of muting with my index finger but could not do it. Ended up muting with my thumb over the to of the neck or plucking. Such a fun way to end the year. Look forward to all the wonderful lessons in the coming year. All of rockclass101 teachers are fabulous! Happy holidays to all.

AndrewKeymaster@mkstewart67 – Bravo! Phenomenal take and wow that uke has such a sweet tone!! Can’t wait to hear more tunes with it 🙂
And TY so much for your generosity!!
@joannetala – Beautiful take. Here are a few tips for increasing sustain on “God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen.”And TY so much for your donation!
@ldarrow – I’m guessing you mean muting the G string with the thumb (instead of index) when strumming. Either works. If I was playing it, I’d use the thumb too.I like how it sounds plucked. I noticed a few members chose to pluck instead of strum. I always encourage folks to adapt arrangements as they please. There’s no right or wrong way to play it 🙂
Overall, I thought you played it beautifully. Keep up the great work and TY for your generous donation!
@moonshine – Wow, that was awesome! Bravo on playing it at that tempo 👏I filmed a video last night for @akukes73 in this post. It’s the same advice I’d offer you for the first melody.
And TY so much for your generosity!

I had a hard time choosing the song this month. At first, I thought I would go with Chopsticks since I did that before and could maybe make a comparison of how much/or little I have improved.
But I liked the melody of God Rest Te Merry Gentlemen. Interestingly, in this month’s challenge video, Andrew said this song is for the beginner level, which is me. However, when I went to the lesson page, it stated that this song was for intermediate players. So, I downloaded the PDF file and followed along with the video. To my surprise, I was able to play the song. Obviously, there are many areas I need to work on, but the fact that I can practice this song made me happy.
With the video angle, it is so apparent that I tend to press down the strings, something Andrew had mentioned before. Didn’t seem to have improved on that front. 🙂 There is so much string “noise” when I lift my fingers. Is there a lesson on how to work on not having string noise?
Again, thanks for a fun class and song.
Aloha, Grace

camperParticipant@rebeca Merry Christmas. Softly played as you went. I liked how you balanced the tone pitch according to the tune.
