ParticipantLoving everyone’s posts. I’m going to be a last minute poster the month. This nutcracker medley is fun but difficult. Everyone is doing so well that I am fearing my performance will be a disappointment. A few more days to practice.

Here is my December submission of The Nutcracker March/Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy. This was a stretch for my skill level and I worked hard on this all month. It’s still pretty rough and the tempo and rhythm are all over the place. But I need to call it done for now. Thanks again for another great challenge. The site has really pushed me to improve, as gradual as it feels sometimes. I’m looking forward to viewing everyone’s performances.
Also, I donated $50 to add to your total for the Ukulele Kids Club.
Take care,

camperParticipant@karenj Wow! Your playing touched my heart with this tune. I like the style of your ukulele. What brand is it?

AndrewKeymaster@akukes73 – I think it’s a great piece to work on for where you’re at in your playing. You did a phenomenal job playing it! There’s really only 1 area I’d recommend targeting your practice on. Which is the single note melody in the first tune.
I want to hear more sustain and connection note to note. Here’s a short video covering the first phrase and explaining this in more detail:
And TY so much for the kind words! I really appreciate it 🙂
@jedart – That was a great take! I’m not hearing any sustain issues. I think all you need is a little more practice to smooth out some of the transitions.
@jody_hendrickson – Wow! Thank you so much for your generous donation and for the kind words. I really appreciate it, Jody 🙂Your performance was beautiful! I enjoyed listening to it!
@karenj – I love the nutcrackers! Excellent performance full of Christmas cheer! 🙂And thank you so much for your generosity, Karen 🙂

Here’s my recording of God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman. This one proved more difficult than it looked and there’s a few wrong notes in this take.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone!

Boy did I find this months difficult to play. I make just as many mistakes playing slowly (as I did in this video) as I do when I play it somewhat faster. I’ve played it through without mistakes, but rarely. Good challenges! Like starting to do a tiny bit of barring and having to move more along the fret board. I know to many it’s nothing, but for me it is a massive challenge. And…I’m having fun!
Looking forward to hearing any feedback if you’ve got time. Always aprpeciated. Many thanks.
Happy holiday’s everyone!

AndrewKeymaster@ccwuke – Beautifully played, Chris! Merry Christmas 🙂
@gisele – That was a great performance! Love that you play to a click and played through mistakes (which were very minor). I don’t see any major critics. Left and right hand form looks great. Timing was great. Feel was great. Keep doing what you’re doing!Although I would say, you did restart the ending phrase. I would have played it once more and called it a tag lol!

akukes73Participant@andrew – Thanks so much for the feedback that is so helpful! I also started on Carol of the Bells and had noticed that my pull off / hammer ones don’t have a good balance between the single notes and so it looses the essence of the rhythm.
Meant to mention I donated $30 to the ukulele kids club.

I just donated 20 Dollars to the Ukulele Club.
Hello Andrew, hello RC101 members,
yesterday I finished my video on God Rest Ye… and I had a really hard time with it beacause I had to memorize the song as I have to watch my hand moves all the time. As soon as I look to my notes I will lose track. But memorizing is really difficult for me. In the end I set up the speed zo 70% and I know that there was one big mistake… that was the moment when I forgot what to play next.
So, if you could give me some advice on how to practice playing with looking at my notes at the same time would help me a lot.Have a wonderful christmas time everybody.
Andrew, I thank you and all of your team for another year with beautiful songs and teaching.
