@gmflin8 – Great performance! Here’s a video I made in May for another member with 2 tips for eliminating unwanted string noise when lifting up from chords. The video uses bar 3, 4, and 5 as the example from this song.

After watching your performance, I think it might be related to the latter cause. If not, then it could be caused by the string height (action) of your uke being too high. Lowering it could help resolve some of the noise.

Oh my! that Nutcracker piece was so much challenging: might have chosen a music too complex for me this time
But it also so fun to learn and play.
I’m not really happy with the result, and I’ll continue working on it… I need to work on the string noise 😁
Had a camera issue (can you imagine that… spend 1h recording myself again and again…. aaaaand mic did not connect correctly to the camera 😱
So after another hour of training, here is the sound only file

God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen – I didn’t have a lot of time to put towards this piece and it shows. I would like advice on how to make it not sound so choppy? I think if I were to play it faster and from memory, then it would get more smooth? I watched others play it and I think I need to work on the fingering transitions, also.

I really enjoy watching all your submissions. I chose God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen. I am still not comfortable with thumb picking. I miss smooth tone. When I get better, it might be my favorite strum picking. 😉
