debb1985ParticipantThanks @rickeymike! Everyone is doing amazing. @brettboy that was so good! I want to learn it, but knew I didn’t stand a chance doing it in a month!

johanna2509ParticipantBrett, that was great! Your performances are always impressive.
Lyndall, I love the arpeggiated strums! I still can’t execute them very well.

johanna2509ParticipantSo here is the version with my little drum beat. It’s just a simle ABAC pattern, thus a bit repetitive. Anyways, it helped me to keep the timing more steady, so I’m quite happy with it.

This is my attempt at People Are Strange. I’ve only been playing the ukulele for a few weeks, so this was quite the challenge – but I definitely learned a ton from the experience. Looking forward to practicing this song more in the future.

surfnrzMemberAlthough it’s far from perfect I have to post today because I don’t have the time in the next couple of days to work on it more. What can I say? Wow, Very challenging and impressive arrangement Evan.Thank you! You are amazing! And as always, fabulous lesson Andrew. I decided to combine some elements of Andrew’s version along with Evans and some of my own to better fit my playing style. I really enjoyed everyone’s performances this month so far you all rock!!

I wanted to play Careless Whisper so much at the start of this month. But since I missed last month’s due date for recording, I decided to take the more realistic one for myself. Here is my work on People Are Strange.

There I was thinking Out in the North took a lot of hours to learn…. then comes along Careless Whisper – hah. Super satisfying though, it is an absolutely amazing composition! It was a big challenge and after @brettboy & @surfnrz magnificently groovy renditions, I shall humbly present my more basic version. Alas, I’m already happy I could remember the entire song (more or less) and get it submitted in time – yay!

I haven’t learnt the entire arrangement yet but I chose Billie Jean this month. Love the beat and the feel of this song!
Appreciate any feedback.
Happy learning everyone!June 27, 2020 at 5:10 pm #39127
lhamiltonParticipantThanks for that feedback, Andrew! Definitely useful! I’ll play with those ideas.

Here is my attempt at “People Are Strange” for the June Challenge:
This month I used my computer’s webcam to record this, rather than the camera I’ve been using. I don’t know why, but whenever I play the full B chord, it sounds like I’m getting a short in the chord plugged into an amp. Yet, I’m not playing an electrified ukulele — it’s acoustic! <sigh> I tried several takes, but always the same, so apologies in advance.
