ParticipantHey all,
Played Duality rhythm at 80%.
Not as clean as I hoped – maybe the other version was cleaner. Duality!I AM A PREMIUM MEMBER.

Keymaster@otzepeng – Your hard work payed off, it was an excellent performance, bravo! 👏
@terryfallon3 – Fingerpicking sounds great, Terry! For the lead, you’re coming in late on the opening line of the A Melody. It starts on beat 3 of measure 4, whereas you’re coming in on beat 1 of measure 5. The timing on Melody B was perfect!May 30, 2025 at 4:35 am #73863hiouke
ParticipantHi everyone,
This my take on Fingerpicking Etude no.37. I enjoyed learning this dreamy tune. I didn’t have too much time to practice this month but I will spend more time on the challenge next month.

Ok… so many mistakes… but I have had fun trying to learn this Bass (Han) Solo Star Wars theme music! (see what I did there?😜) But I am OUT OF TIME! I made a lot of progress these last couple days, I will keep working on it!

ParticipantThanks for the feedback, Andrew.
I relistened to the lesson and see what you mean about my late entry – throws the whole song off. Also, I used Transcribe and it is a great tool. I’m sure I’ll find a lot of other ways to use it.
This was my first time playing with another – either out of laziness or fear. Probably both.
Thanks for the encouragement.Terry

Participant@Andrew thank you so much for your feedback. I did’t even notice the position of my ring finger, now I can work on it!

ParticipantI so enjoyed all the performances of Duality, and it’s such a lovely tune that I’ve decided to learn it myself. But what contortions I have to put my hand through to make all those chords happen! Now I’m doubly impressed with everyone’s talent.

ParticipantHello everyone.
Great job and good luck as always.😊
Here is my entry for this month. This tune was a very challenging tune to play smoothly.😊

Hi All – I started the month playing “Sittin’ on the Dock of the Bay”, which was fun, but I just wasn’t ‘feeling it’ – you know what I mean? I wanted to submit something though, so I rallied to instead pick up & learn eTude #37 at the last minute. A chill vibe matching my current mood I guess. It’s an easier one from a technical perspective, but what I noticed is how much quicker I can learn a song now than say a year ago (ok, yes it’s pretty short, but still I can tell easier for my brain to understand what’s coming next – the structure).
In my rush to record something quickly before running out the door, I didn’t take the time to set my mic up nicely. I recorded it too softly and I can still hear my sock-footed rhythm toe tapping in the background LOL. If I had recorded it at a higher volume, I could have filtered out the faint toe taps I suppose, but it’s something I’ll remember next time.
Nice job everyone!

I looked at the challenge this past Wednesday (2 days ago) and decided to try to learn Sitting on the dock of the bay 🥴. It’s the quickest I’ve been able to try to do something. You can tell I had very little time with it 😂 I had the notes close by just in case 😂 I look forward to learning it well.

May 2025 – Etude 37
I must have done over 200 takes over a few days, I dont know if I got flustered I would Thunk or Twang on a note when my finger wasn’t on the righ place on the Fret, or mute a string over when I didn’t have enough arch, or my patterning would falter. Some takes I should realize my holding wasn’t right, I should have made sure I was SET part of that was attempting so many back to back. I did memorize it however. I Think I needed to have it all down much earlier in the month (which would have given me time to work out these things that would go wrong) and start going through it slowly and then speed up after I had all the moving pieces down. There are a number of ooops in here I will continue working on this going back and going at 1/4 or 1/2 speed till it’s down and then see if I can speed it up. It is a pretty piece of music
Annoyingly sometime my mind would wander (whats up with that…)

Here’s my recording of (Sittin’ On) The Dock of the Bay.
Had lots of fun learning and playing this one too. Messed up the outro, but running out of time to record again. For some reason the recording had a really noticeable droning note sound around 330 Hz which tried to remove with EQ.
