Thanks. Still needs work though. I found that because the song has so much energy, the hardest part for me was keeping the tempo under control … it kept trying to run away. I had to consciously keep slowing myself down. Even in this recording, I had a little trouble.

I am a premium member. This is my rough take of La Gitanita, I think I’m hitting the strings a little bit too harshly. I’ll see if I can post a more cleaned up version later.

This is my submission for November; La Gitanita.
I really wanted to learn Moon (and still will)….my work travel in November is about half the month, so Moon wasn’t possible. I started to learn La Gitanita last week and learned Melody C completely just yesterday. This took quite a few takes- seems rasqueado is tough to do after so long!Loving that new uke, Maureen! That harmonic sounded on point. How are you liking the strings? Are they better now?
I’m not quite ready to post a video. As much as I love Moon, I know I’d never be able to remember it all. I’m working on La Gitanita, but as always, my biggest problem is timing. 🙃
Thanks Kanni! Yes, I’m getting used to it and it feels much better. I wanted to give the strings a fair chance, so I’m keeping them for now. It’s taken me about a month to feel comfortable with it though. I definitely could have used more time with this song, but I know this week will fly by and I’m out the last week of the month.
I bet you can remember Moon….let’s commit to learning it by the end of the year! It’s too beautiful not to play

Just wanted to pop in and wish everyone celebrating Thanksgiving tomorrow a happy stress-less day. For those elsewhere in the world I wish the same but with no holiday attached!
In the spirit of the holiday I do want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart to all premium members specifically. You All make learning here possible for those of us who aren’t yet able to be premium. All the great friendly people coming together here from across the globe learning ukulele from a bunch of great teachers is awesome. Another shout out to Andrew and the gang for giving basic members a shot at the giveaways too. A few people out there use them as a premium perk only. After seeing the list in October the premium member perk is super awesome but I do appreciate the shot at the giveaway and the feedback especially!

Here is my very first entry to a monthly challenge at Rockclass101 and it was the first tune I learned here. Thank you Andrew for the great and clear explanations. It was so much fun to learn “La gitanita” 🙂
How on earth does Katie (or Taimane for that matter) manage to sing from bar 13 to bar 20 in one breath? Serious props! My wife and I both have to take a breath at the beginning of bar 16. We’re still working out which of us will sing it in our final version.
@Sprintingyogini – Both of us singing? We’d want to work out harmonies, then, and I don’t think we’ll manage that by the end of the month. If we win a Skype lesson with Taimane, though, maybe we could work them out together with Taimane. That would be pretty awesome!
