    As a pathologic perfectionist, I struggle to just “have some fun” and play a song, because I want it to be perfect without mistakes, but that is just impossible (at least for us mortals like @misterbones said haha). I did so many takes of this one and was starting to feel angry every time I did a small mistakes so I just decided to stop trying, let it go and post my best shot here. I guess I have to work on that and just enjoy the ride!

    So here’s my attempt at Always with me!

    Cheers

    @shmu88 That was just beautiful! I am so impressed that you were able to memorize it; that is a huge challenge for me with this piece. I’ve been doubting whether I’ll be ready to submit this by the 30th but you’ve inspired me to keep at it. Such a lovely piece and arrangement by Steven and you really conveyed the sweetness of it. Thank you.

    @shmu88, are you kidding me? That was amazing! I kind of want to cry after listening to that. So good!

    You kept the pace of the song so well which is one of many aspects of that song that is so difficult, the speed. And like @jody_hendrickson, memorizing the song, but I think I’ve finally mostly got that (after also questioning my ability to do so). Still, sometimes my brain glitches out and doesn’t recall the information fast enough in time. 😂😅

    But with memorizing, I take as much advantage as possible of repeating parts of the song. For me, that’s really helpful. Start small. Once you learn a section, you have it for when it repeats of course. So the best thing to do is to focus on really learning one section very well, then worry about how everything fits together later. Not sure if that makes sense. Just keep going with it and you’ll be surprised at how your brain kicks in (for me, mostly). 😅

    I hope I can post my take of that one soon, too. I also have accepted it won’t be perfect but IMO yours was, Shmu (autocorrect wanted that to be “scum”). 😅 Very well done!

    @shmu88 Your words really resonated with me, as I have the same issue! A lot of times I will go into recording a song and think, a few errors here and there, I will live with it. But then I get a take that could be considered, “good enough”, and I just want to get it better until there is zero errors and its simply never attainable for myself. lol. So, I feel you man, and while listening to you play, I also relate to @The_Bumble_Bard because I really felt the performance. You nailed it by the way, and I only hope I can come close to your performance by the end of this month! Of course, I say all of that while posting this entry in which I make numerous errors, but I am uploading it because Ziggy joined me for the take and he is a crowd favorite. lol

    @jedart
    I also struggled with the time of this medley! You’re not alone, keep up the good work!

    @barbecueblack
    Well played! You sounded beautiful 🙂

    Here’s my recording of Always With Me. I recorded about 5 full takes and this was the best one, getting the ‘perfect’ take on a longer song is hard!

    After listening to @Schmu88 I decided I couldn’t have Always with Me in time. So here is my attempt at Path of the Wind. Take 50 lol.

    @jbmills07, that was magical! 😁😅💕 I think she might’ve been trying to play with you at a few points! 😂 Really lovely performance, too. 😊

    Okay… So, here’s the take I’m going with for now. Agreed with everyone else that it’s so hard to play for so long, even two minutes, without making a mistake. That said, I made many. 😂

    Verse 2 is the most mistakey part of this recording, but the rest of it was pretty good, so I also recorded another slightly better take of verse two (I tried to re-record the whole thing again, but I was feeling too anxious to get through it all, so I just recorded the improvements on that little part). I did play the whole thing in the first, longer recording, but wanted a redemption take on that little part. I hope I can actually get another recording of the entire thing, but this month has been a lil’ crazy so we’ll see. 😅

    Here’s the redemption take on that little part: https://youtu.be/ihxyVtk1YYQ?si=wskE2gTlHM-w6RrU

    Also, sorry about the recording quality. I tried to fix the first video; the second video shows what it sounded like before I “fixed” it. 😅

    Last thing, I tried to do four-finger picking, but I injured my ring finger on my right hand a long time ago and because I have been avoiding using that finger playing uke, I got used to three fingers and it was way more comfortable to play it that way for me, and less painful. I’m going to try to do four-finger picking more often, but it will take time to adapt to that.

    There’s so much more, this song was a journey, thank you for listening and reading! 😅💕

    @the_bumble_bard you did it! This piece is so tricky. I’m not a perfectionist, when it comes to music, as @shmu88 played to perfection I think, but I feel more of “survival mode” 😁. Andrew says don’t compare but have your own journey. Totally agree but watching the amazing entries gives me a bit of angst to improve… not a bad thing. Also TBB enjoyed your claw hammer. Impressed with your ability’s to transpose.

    @ccwuke
    , nicely played. @jbmills07 lovely sound coming from that Uke. Ziggy really feels you’re playing with her tail❤️. @misterbones amazing entry. 😁👏.
    Hopefully I can post Always with me soon but it won’t be at 100 that’s for sure.
    Another amazing month of beautiful selections.
