This is my best attempt at Always With Me (from Spirited Away). This one was exceptionally difficult for me to record because one little slip up and I felt I needed to begin again. Which is why I just couldn’t risk doing the chorus repeat. 😟Really enjoyed learning it though and may even try to make it a “pocket song.”

leb397Participant@suekulele real emotion in your playing and tone of your Uke is pretty. I enjoyed it. I hear you, about repeating chorus with length of piece.👏😊

I haven’t been playing the ukulele for months and my skills have fallen back a lot. I am not too impressed with this recording as I didn’t have much time to practice the song and I will be going on a vacation next week. Nevertheless, I will spend more time on my uke for the challenge next month.

The_Bumble_BardParticipant@leb397, thank you so much! Haha, yes, with Always With Me, I’ve definitely felt like I am in “survival mode,” too. 😅 It’s definitely worth it to keep going with that song, though, because even though my own take still needs work, it’s very satisfying once you (mostly) get it. I’m definitely going to try to remember this one. And thank you for liking the clawhammer POTW! 😅 It’s so much fun to modify songs in that way for me. Looking forward to your entry, friend! 😊
All the other Always With Me’s (and all the song entries) are lovely so far! 😁

I love Always with me from Spirited Way. Though it is above my skill level, I chose to give it a try. There were many frustrating moments when I said “this is impossible for me’ and considered changing songs. But, figured if I don’t push myself, I will never improve. I don’t regret staying with it, but I am sorry to all who listen for such a horrible entry. I have played it better than this , but this was the best I could do recording. Still needs a great deal of work and I enjoy this song so much I think I may continue with it

AndrewKeymaster@cherry1234 – Excellent playing on all 3 tunes! A friendly reminder, don’t forget to tune before recording 🙂
@jedart – Well done, Jed! My only advice would be to memorize the last 2 pieces so you can focus 100% on your playing.
@barbecueblack – Bravo! Very well played! I’d suggest practicing at a slower tempo to smooth out some of the trickier parts. But also, try to increase the sustain in the h/o & p/o phrases.
@rgillof – Excellent performance, Richard! Great pacing and feel throughout. You aced it!
@jbmills07 – LOL I’m amazed that you can play THAT well with so much distraction 😂
@ccwuke – A very lovely performance, Chris. Well done! 👏And 5 takes is not bad! There’s been some songs where I easily did 3 or 4 times that lol.
@mark1256 – Bravo Mark! This might be my fav performance from you. Excellent feel and tone. You nailed the peaceful vibe of the tune. It was a real pleasure to listen to 🙂
@qiuyan – Beautifully played, Qiuyan! I really enjoyed your performance!
@The_Bumble_Bard – Take 2 was spot on in that part! Well done! I actually think the audio sounded better in the second take then the “corrected” first take. Take 1 sounded “under water” to me lol.But you’re playing is constantly improving and I find myself continually impressed with your progress. The only advice I can give is to target the trickier areas by looping them at slower tempos, gradually working them up to speed. Keep up the great work, Rachael!
@suekulele – Lovely performance Sue! I agree w/ @leb397, great feel!
@hiouke – Your performance was great! The one thing I would try is a lighter picking attack. Here’s a video I made a couple years ago for another member, but it talks (and demos) about the diff between using a soft vs. a strong attack and how a softer attack produces a sweeter tone.
@otzepeng – LOL @ the ending! It was a brilliant performance. Great feel and pacing throughout. I really liked your use of rubato in the phrase leading back to the main melody. Well done, Markus!
@ldarrow – That was the opposite of a horrible performance, Linda. It was absolutely beautiful apart from the TV in the background LOL. I love when y’all push yourselves by jumping into more challenging pieces. But I have to be honest – I think you’re ready for this level. As you continue practicing, try 16 bar sections per day. Just focus on getting that “chunk” exactly to where you want it. Again, awesome job overall. I am impressed!
@morrieuke1 – That was awesome Michael! I’ll let Steven know that he made you sweat a little LOL. Only advice I can offer is to memorize it so you can focus 100% on playing it. It’s def a challenging piece for the left hand!November 27, 2023 at 9:03 am #59531
mark1256Participant@andrew thanks. I really worked on the tone. Although my new ukulele may have helped lol.
November 27, 2023 at 12:01 pm #59532
The_Bumble_BardParticipant@Andrew, thank you so much! I really appreciate that; your encouragement means a lot. 😊
Ha! The first take does sound underwater once again. I thought I’d gotten past that issue, but I was wrong. 😂 I was trying to fix how quiet the recording is but instead it sounds like you’re listening to a robot uke through a wall using a paper cup (all underwater). 😂😳🥺 Anyway thanks again for the feedback!

otzepengParticipant@andrew, thanks for your kindly words. I’m glad, it’s possible to hear, what i tryed to do on this arrangement.

Hi everyone,
this month I enjoyed “Path of the Wind”. 🙂
Great songs! “Always with me” is also on my list now, but the month was too short for me to get it down.November 27, 2023 at 2:58 pm #59535
lhamiltonParticipantHi,
This month I tried Merry-Go-Round of Life. I’d like to have worked on it a bit longer (it was especially rough in the third part) but there is Covid in the house and though I’m isolating, I can’t be sure I won’t come down with it before month end.
The piece a beautiful arrangement by the way.

[I’m a premium member]This month I learned Mika Kane’s beautiful and tricky ukulele arrangement of Merry-Go-Round of Life. Thanks Mika and Andrew for this excellent challenge!

AndrewKeymaster@bibilele – So beautifully played, Bianca 🙂
@lhamilton – Oh no! I hope you don’t catch it and for a quick recovery for the rest of your household. Your performance was beautiful! You captured the magic of the piece 🙂
@brettboy – Wow Brett! An incredible take, masterfully played. I’ll def be sharing your performance in our socials this week ❤️ -
