This is what these challenges are about… you learning ukulele and getting better. Remember we are all here to support you no matter what your current playing level is.

October 1, 2024 at 6:43 pm #63912nat-ukeParticipantOh Kanile’a KTR, you’re sooo beautiful 😻. Now to choose a song to work on!
October 1, 2024 at 9:01 pm #63931The_Bumble_BardParticipantEvery time I catch a glimpse of that kanile’a, I feel like I’m going to start drooling. 😅 But then I think about how clumsy I am and how I probably shouldn’t have it…
I want to try to learn Toccata and Fugue, that being my “white whale” of the Rock Class songs, but we’ll see what happens. Whale see… 😉😅
Edit: I just rewatched the performance of Toccata and Fugue. I forgot how insane that is. So cool though. Is it for low g or high g? I couldn’t find which it was. If it’s low g, that would sound really amazing on my electric uke. ☺️

October 2, 2024 at 2:51 am #63940bibileleParticipantGreat songs. 😊 I love Blue Moon, but I already posted it for another challenge some time ago. @The_Bumble_Bard, I’d also love to do Toccata, I love that one since I did it on the electric organ decades ago. 😱 But I’m not sure if I’d rather need one year instead of one month learning it. 😂 So I think I’ll wait and see how I like the Spooky, Scary skeletons, and then I decide what to do.
October 2, 2024 at 11:19 am #63943The_Bumble_BardParticipant@bibilele, that is sooooo cool that you used to play that one on a pipe organ! I always wanted to try to play one of those because I liked to play piano. Oh wait, you said an electric organ, so I guess that’s something different? Hahaha I know, it’s a bit ridiculous to think I could learn that in a month too, but maybe I could learn one of the easier ones as a “place holder,” then start learning the Fugue, at least. We should both try it. I think I could definitely learn part of it. My favorite part is the third theme. Shows what an incredible player Andrew is, watching him play that. 😅☺️
October 2, 2024 at 2:07 pm #63944nat-ukeParticipantI’m not into Halloween and I love the classic Blue Moon – so looking at Blue Moon. I was a little hesitant because of the ‘intermediate to advanced’ category that it was in – now that’s SCARY -haha. But I’ve tested out the lesson with the first 4 measures and I think it’s doable for me with some effort. 4 measures down only 21 measures to go 😀 Enjoy the month all!
October 2, 2024 at 3:58 pm #63941simonalexanderParticipantWell! A bit of a result for Simon this month, as I recorded Toccata and Fugue a couple of years ago. Boom!
October 2, 2024 at 4:17 pm #63946AndrewKeymasterHi Simon, great to see you back! I remember this epic performance! Will def share it in this week’s newsletter!
P.S. Don’t forget to add the premium tag for K giveaways 😉
October 3, 2024 at 6:43 am #63950diannaParticipant@simonalexander WOW!!!
October 3, 2024 at 5:53 pm #63957bibileleParticipant@The_Bumble_Bard I guess a pipe organ is what you can hear in churches. Then it’s similar, but not the same. The electric organ does not have pipes, but just a speaker. To be honest, the sound sucks. 😅 The technique is also similar, but with the electric organ you mainly use only one foot and only the ball of your foot while on the pipe organ you do a lot of footwork with both feet, ball and heel. I’ll definitely put Toccata into my wanna-learn-list for the ukulele, but probably not in October.
October 4, 2024 at 12:02 pm #63960The_Bumble_BardParticipant@bibilele, yes, the pipe organ is the gigantic kind that’s built into the walls of churches, with all the pipes, obvs. I think they vary in size. I saw one in England that took up the whole wall and it was rather breathtaking. I forgot that the smaller kinds were called electric organs. That’s really interesting with the different kinds of foot work involved. I would love to try that one day, sounds entertaining. 😂
Toccata is a good one to try, I still am going to try to learn as much as I can of it this month, with my “safety” option of a simpler song. 😂
@simonalexander, really amazing playing! I found your video on here when you first shared it because I was interested in that song and you were the only one who shared it here. Really really amazing! 😊- This reply was modified 1 week, 2 days ago by The_Bumble_Bard.

Oops! Yes, thanks Andrew. I forgot to add that to my Toccata entry. 😊October 6, 2024 at 2:39 pm #63974leb397Participant@simonalexander wow is right!

Boohoooo all together,
i could not resist my inner demons and made a take of “Blue Moon”, which i learned more than two years ago. Just love Stevens arrangement, thx for that. The Halloween-theme is in progress and i’m full of bloody hope to get it also done this month.
Have much fun with all the nice tunes in October,
Markus

Boom, baby! Step one, complete: Learn a simpler song to secure my entries for the challenge. Step two, begins: Time to serve up a delish hot “Fugue” sundae (really stupid, lol). Actually, I do realize it’s borderline impossible for me to learn that this month, but I’m still going to see how far I can get. I already started.
I actually am pretty pleased with this (Spooky, Scary Skeletons) considering how quickly I learned this (for me) and how I tried to be a little “extra” with the chorus. It could be smoother, still some pauses, but overall… Not bad, eh?!?!?!? ;D Also, I really, really enjoyed playing this more than I even expected and would recommend this song to anyone who’s not sure what to work on. 😊
Thank you for listening and for all these amazing challenges! 😊❤️
