ParticipantHi guys! Thanks for all you do to encourage us. I’d like to get your opinion on what you think is the uke (soprano, concert, or tenor) with the best intonation as you move up the neck? I’m frustrated with ukes that are in tune for the first few frets, then one string seems bad the higher you go. I’m not looking to great the bank, so let’s say under $300 or so. Cheers!

lyndallkParticipantHi Andrew,
I’d like to know the first steps you take in arranging a ukulele solo. Do you improvise? Do you think through the theory and structure of the tune?
Cheers

acekingParticipantAre there any exercises that you can recommend to get that pinky finger working just a little bit better?

ParticipantHow do I take care of my (laminated) ukulele? Can I use any polish ti keep it look nice shiny or just a wet cloth ☺. And what about the strings? Do they need any care?

ParticipantAre there any ways to identify a bad ukulele? And if so, what is typical for bad and good ukuleles?

evanjdesilvaParticipantHi Andrew, are there any fingerstyles that cover the melody, the baseline and the rhythm? I’m working on a song that requires those 3 parts.

lisamccParticipantHey Andrew,
Strings…. what strings would you recommend for fingerpicking. I’ve got some uke playing friends who have told me that they changed the strings and it completely changed their instrument. I don’t have a problem with my set up, but maybe there is a sweeter sound out there…….
Thanks!
Lisa 😉

ParticipantHi,
My question is about choosing the best size ukelele for hand size. I recently purchased a tenor ukelele as I really liked the tone, but then when I took my first ukelele lesson, my instructor said that I should be p,aging a concert size, due to my small hands. Help! I’m not sure what to do. Should I forget about trying to play tenor, or should I continue to plod on and try to play my beautiful tenor?
Thanks!

ukuleleladyParticipantShould I wipe off the fretboard/body of the uke after playing each time due to the oils on my hands?

ParticipantHow to easily play songs written in high G with a low G tuning?

rosi17ParticipantHello Andrew and everyone who read the question! 🙂
I fell in love with the ukulele after hearing Jake’s cover of Bohemian Rhapsody, it took me 5 years to decide to pick one and try to play myself that wonderful fingerpicking style on uke… so last August I bought a very cheap Mahalo soprano that I use really often now.
I used to study and play classic guitar when I was a child so I thought it would make things easier to me, I actually realized that it is pretty different after all… so here’s my question:
when I was studying guitar as a beginner, teachers used to tell me that it was always better to start and practice with the finger picking and later pass to strumming chords, would you say so for the ukulele or, better, how would you suggest to approach uke to a begginer?thank you very much!!
I read many interesting question so I look forward to hear the answers!! 😀March 24, 2018 at 3:06 pm #16368chrispmetalunicorn
ParticipantWhen bending, should you use one finger or multiple? My guitarist friend says its better to bend with multiple, I’ve always just used one. Please compare and contrast, thanks ^-^

ParticipantWhat unusual type of Ukulele or style of playing (for example a resonator Ukuele or slide) have you tried that you would recommend others to check out?

ParticipantIf ukuleles grew on trees, what kind of taste would you like them to be?
