We did it! We crushed the Spring Challenges!
144 members participated in our last 3 challenges and I have been blown away by everyone’s performances! Thanks to each and everyone of you who participated!
The video announcing the winner of these challenges, who will be awarded 10 EXTRA entries for the grand prize, a $2,250 Kanile’a Custom Built Tenor Ukulele, will premiere on July 4th at 12 pm ET. (check your local time zone)

@leihali – You did a great job on it, Kay! It’s always great to challenge ourselves beyond our comfort zone. That’s actually one of the best ways to grow and become better musicians. Here’s one tip for you that I think is the big one to focus on:
@maryjanew – TY for the video, MJ! I’m not seeing any playing issues or form issues in that phrase you were asking about. So, yes, the answer is practice more, lol. Which always seems to be the answer 😂. I do have to say tho, that you DID play that phrase well in this video!@leb397 – It sounds really cool on banjo, Louisa! My feedback will be for the uke take, which I thought you did extremely well on! Great playing and feel throughout! The only thing I’d suggest is to practice at a slower tempo, focusing on note and chord clarity.
@nat-uke – You played the notes on the higher frets super clean and handled the jumps up/down the neck like a boss! Great feel and timing throughout. Well played, Natalie!
@abster – Ohhh!! In the car takes, Feng E style 🙂I’m really impressed with Abhay’s improvement in his timing and understanding of rhythm and swing feel. Keep up the excellent work y’all!
@xerxes – Excellent playing and timing, Milo! One tip for the barre chord. Try barring from the third string down. No need to fret all 4 strings since your ring is playing the note on the 7th fret there. That should make it easier to play and to get the A string note to ring clear each time.As for your uke, I think the carbon fibers are less resonant than wood ukes. Maybe that might be why?
@frederic – That was really well played Frederic! I think you’re spot on, just a little more practice will get it smoothed out to where you want it to be. But, honestly, it doesn’t sound like it will take much more work. Keep up the great work!
@riley_ukulele – The duet arrangement sounded awesome! Well done! 👏Here’s everyone on page 8.

@richard_siegert – Great fingerpicking, Richard! The only suggestion I have is to loop the phrase in bars 7-8. That’s the only section I think could use targeted practice.

@nelsonlin2021 – Bravo Nelson! The only thing I’d suggest is to practice at a slower tempo, just to help reinforce smooth transitions and clean notes/phrases. Really well done overall!
@otzepeng – Audio quality was fantastic! Great feel, timing, and groove! You aced it and I loved the scenery!
@yukalele – You nailed the fun, feel good rhythm, vibes, and upbeat tempo! This is def one of my fav performances of yours, David! The only thing I’d suggest touching up is the super high C chord (0-0-12-15). I’m hearing mostly the melody notes on the A string there, try to get more of the chord to fill up the sound. Keep up the great work!

As for your ?, I’m not really sure. It’s hard to tell from the video since it’s sped up and the actual take was audio only. Can you share a video clip playing that section?
