andyroseParticipantDespite working for a month on People Are Strange, I still can’t play it all the way through at a level I would want to share, so I won’t be posting a recording. But I’m OK with that – just proud that I was able to submit entries for the previous two months, my first attempts ever. So at least my name is in the hat!
What I’m writing to say is that only when I started to participate in the challenges did I really catch on to what a great resource we have in Rock Class 101. Getting the personalized feedback, tips, and answers to questions is (to borrow a word from Andrew) awesome! And that’s on top of all the great song arrangements with detailed lessons, courses, live-stream Q&As, and everything else RC101 has to offer. I think it’s an incredible value for uke players at every level. So this is my shout-out of thanks to Andrew, Matt, Stephen, Christopher, Evan, Tobias, Katie, AJ, and all the inspiring teachers and arrangers of RC101! You rock!
andyroseParticipantThank you so much, Andrew, for the patient and detailed explanation! You’ve convinced me – I’ll get to work on aiming the triplet strum at the top three strings, without awkwardly trying to mute the G.

andyroseParticipantAwesome job, Rebeca!!
andyroseParticipantWonderful Tonight, please!
I’m hoping to play and sing this for my wife on our 50th anniversary. I’ve only got seven years to prepare, so it’s time to get practicing!

This is my first song using hammer-ons and pull-offs, which I found pretty challenging. I did check out the tutorials by Matt and Andrew, which are very useful – a lot more practice needed.
The right-hand technique from Tobias is fantastic, but way beyond my skill level!
Playing from memory, it seems I added an extra repeat of bars 19-20. Please accept that as “interpretation”. 🤣

Sorry if this is double-posted – I tried to post a few minutes ago but it’s not showing up.
As I said . . . this is my first song using hammer-ons and pull-offs, which I’m struggling with as you will see.
The right-hand technique by Tobias is wonderful but way beyond my skill level.
Also, I seem to have added an extra repeat of bars 19-20, please excuse!

One day while working on Day-O, just for kicks, I tried it on my low-G uke. I really liked the sound of that bass note in the call-and-response so that’s how I recorded it. I had to make one change: added a higher G (3rd fret of E string) on the last note of bar 19 to keep the melody. I hope that’s OK!
The performance isn’t great, I know, but this is my first time entering the challenge and I’m very happy to have been able to get through it!
Thanks!
Andy Rose
andyroseParticipantMy request is: Beach Boys “God Only Knows”
andyroseParticipantHi Andrew – Thanks for the very speedy reply! I tried clearing the cache in Firefox but it still won’t play there. However, everything works fine in both Chrome and Safari.
So I would say it’s not a big deal, I’ll just use a different browser for Rock Class 101.
Thanks again for the help!
Andy
