gmflin8MemberI AM A PREMIUM MEMBER.
Phew, The song itself is easy; learning the triplet strum technique was like a brain twister 🙂
Here is my entry. Love to hear feedback.September 17, 2020 at 4:23 am in reply to: September 12, 2020 – Live Lesson Topic: The 3 E’s of Learning Ukulele #40894
gmflin8MemberTalking about the 3Es, within the context of rockclass101…I am wondering at what point should I have a few private lessons? How do I know? What will private lesions do for me?
Thanks,

gmflin8Memberthanks, @Andrew, for your feedback. Once you pointed those things out, they seem obvious 🙂
Working on the sustain seems to be a thing that many of us struggle with. I will definitely pay more attention to it moving forward.

gmflin8MemberLove the shaka at the end, Steven.
I look forward to your class

gmflin8MemberAloha,
Here is my entry to this month’s challenge. I learned how to play the “Classical Etude.” Phew, that was HARD!
Last month, I received feedback with a list of areas to work on. I decided to completely ignore all of them this month so I at least would have *something* to submit 😀 I tried to not have too many rings this time. Phew, did I say that this was hard?!
@Andrew, can you make sure that we have one beginner song next month? 😀Feedback welcome.

gmflin8Memberwow! everyone! I am impressed…..it is so neat that people can write their own songs…and sing too. Impressive.
As a beginner, this month’s challenge is a bit overwhelming. There is not a song choice for the beginner, so I have decided to practice Classical Etude this month. Oh man! my fingers don’t want to cooperate! 🙂
A question. @Andrew, on bar #8, there is a repeat symbol but I cannot find its pair… or is it a repeat symbol?
Thanks.

gmflin8MemberI still struggle with holding a small soprano ukulele, however, if you see Christopher, clearly has no problem making amazing music with his soprano 🙂
Just FYI – my string was a makeshift uku strap made from a shoelace and a command tape
https://www.dropbox.com/s/qiqfz8zrcjrx2lw/uku_strap.jpg?dl=0My goal is still eventually to be skillful enough to do without the strap
Let’s make progress together
Aloha, Grace
gmflin8MemberI would love to see arrangements from any of the songs from Studio Ghibli. If I have to pick one out of so many, I would vote for “Always with me” from the anime “Spirited away”
Thanks for your consideration.
gmflin8Memberwow! Thanks for sharing. This is such an amazing pastime project!

gmflin8MemberAloha Andrew
Thanks for the video.
Yes, I will pay special attention to the suggested fingering as I still explore my way around playing. It makes sense that these intentionally designed fingerings would help with the transition to the next note.
Yes, to watch out for finger bendingYes, go back to the bar chord lessons
Yes, fingers not push down enough or touch another string
To connect to Matt’s live session this month, I do need to continue working on these basic skills 🙂
Thanks for pointing them out to me. MUch appreciated.August 12, 2020 at 1:52 pm in reply to: Participate in the August 2020 Member Challenge – Theme: Songs You Requested! #40296
gmflin8Member@aloooy that is such a cool instrument.
I am so thrilled to see everyone’s instrument collections

gmflin8MemberWonderful lesson and thanks for answering my questions.
My biggest takeaway is that practice to build skills and play to make these skills your own.
I also learned that it is OKAY not to remember all the songs I have ever learned. Instead, focus on the skills acquired when learning each song. I was already thinking that I have forgotten about the July song. I am sure the skills I learned helped me build my skill toolkit, granted I may not feel like so at the moment. With time, I am sure all those hard work will pay off.
One more thing, learning and playing music should be fun! Stop judging and start enjoying 🙂
Thanks for an insightful lesson.

gmflin8MemberAloha everyone
I don’t wait to be great to share; I share so I will become great one day
So here it is
Thanks to Stephen’s feedback last month, I think my right wrist is not bending as bad as before.
It is quite an experience recording myself. The recording made me realize the places I need to practice further. I felt my play sounded so much better than it really was. 🙂 Recordings don’t lie.
Feedback welcome.
