Given up learning Triplet strum with Into the North. Had to learn it this time and really liking how it felt and sounded after mastering the technique.

Here’s my take on St. Anne’s reel.

    Hi guys,

Aloha from Germany. I wanted to learn more on the Uke than only chord stumming, and this place really rocks.
So I give it a try for the challenge.

Sorry the mic of my ipad isn´t the best.

    Hi everyone

It has been a long time since I’ve joined a challenge, but now as there is an Irish Reel to learn I didn’t have to think too long about it, because I do Irish Dancing for about 10 years now :-). I loved to learn the triplet picking technique and without this challenge i wouldn’t have learned it for a longer time, so thanks for giving me a little push. I asked my friend and dance buddy Kim if she would like to dance something while I play and here it is: 🙂

    Thanks all for watching.

    Here’s everyone on page 11.

sebaraedo – Bravo! That was a flawless performance 🙂

sir_anzalot – Well done! Technique looks great and great feel throughout. Watch out for hitting those slide notes too hard. The one you did at 43 seconds was perfect, try to match the volume of the others to that one.

We’re rolling out Christmas and Hanukkah songs starting 2nd week of Nov. That will be Dec’s theme 🙂

alana_ – Here is my feedback for you 🙂

cyberloh – Sounds great! It was hard for me to see if the right hand technique was done properly from that angle. So you may want to double-check that you’re doing it as described in this video.

jkulele – Well done! Try to get a little bit more of a “flick” in the attack of the index finger as opposed to the motion of a strum. Click the link that I left above for @cyberloh for a more detailed demo/example of this.

janaq1 – Bravo, Jana! Great feel, timing and well done on the right hand technique! Very impressive, keep up the great work!

addilein – Great job! So there’s two things I want to point out. First, check out the advice I left above for @jkulele. I’d recommend the same for you. Second, try to lighten up your attack for the pick attack (thumb and index). A lighter pluck produces a softer, sweeter tone. Here’s a video I made last year for another member, and although it demos a different song, it explains this concept in much better detail.

schaap123 – Well done! Overall, you did an excellent job on the right hand technique. But if you do watch your performance back, you’ll notice that you break the proper form here and there. To me, I’d say you’re playing it at your limit right now (tempo wise). So I’d suggest slowing it down and really focusing on the right hand form to keep it consistent.

As far as the volume issue, I wouldn’t be able to suggest anything if you’re just recording with the mic from a video camera/smart phone. Check out our recording course to up your recording quality.

lisamcc – Sounds great, Lisa! Technique looks great too! I’d say with a little bit more practice, you’d get it cleaned up a bit. But I know you know what to do, so keep up the great work!

    Hi everyone,
this is the first song that I have learned on the ukulele and I´m very happy that I have learned it before time is up 🙂
I´m looking forward to learn more songs on the ukulele. Here is my attempt

Well, this has been a challenge!
Today’s playing is far from what I can do with this piece but you get it anyway.
    Self assessment:
Thumb too high on neck; too much movement in right hand technique; chords are not ringing out too well.
But I recorded, and no swearing heard on this take ;D

Here’s my take on the Triplet Strum Etude. A few wobbles, and still at “tempo di learn-o”. But it’s a cool technique and I look forward to getting it smoother and up to speed.

Thank you for your kind words, Andrew!
Yeah love my new Kanile’a longneck soprano 🙂
I have noticed as well that I tend to accelerate towards the end. I’m working on it.

Really liking the tripe strum technique and I’m now learning to play St. Anne’s Reel.

    Hi
    I AM A PREMIUM MEMBER
i enjoyed the challenge, but must say, found it much harder to get perfect (it is not!!!) in a short period of time than I initially thought. Hope it is good enough, will have to keep working on it!
    Thanks Andrew and team.

I’m really embarrassed by this. It’s really really messy, but I ran out of time, so here it is.
