lisadmhParticipantYou guys are great. You give me something to aspire to!
So, I’m having problems. I’m a beginner and I’ve been working on Hall of the Mountain King. I can play all the way through it, but it’s way slower than it should be, and it’s just not good. I don’t know how to get it better though. The answer might be just keep practicing, but I’ve been playing it a million times, to the point I’m literally dreaming about the song 🙂 I’m looping sections, using a metronome….
Would it be cheating to post a pre-final version here to get some feedback on what to do to make it better?
I first touched a uke 3.5 months ago, have no strings background, and only intermediate piano from years ago, so I’m really starting from scratch. My only training is here at Rock Class 101.
Thanks!
lisadmhParticipantThat’s awesome! He’s just a wee bit better than me though.
I definitely need to get my hands on one of these in a store to try it out.
Thanks!
lisadmhParticipantHi Andrew. I feel like you could do a stellar rendition of this:
I will possess your heart, Death Cab For Cutie
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pq-yP7mb8UEI know your request list is likely very long, and it’s best for everyone that you to do things that YOU love, but I thought I’d put a shout out for Death Cab For Cutie anyway. Any Death Cab song at all would be fabulous, but this has such an interesting long instrumental introduction, good for uke? Or not? 🙂

lisadmhParticipantandracass, you can still play Mountain King. Andrew says play themes 1-2-1-2-5 if you don’t have the higher frets. But with 15 frets I can get theme 3 too, so I’m doing 1-2-3-2-5. Still sounds good. Or it will when I get it smoother. 🙂
lisadmhParticipantThanks Andrew. That was worth revisiting. I can do the chord. It just takes me a full beat to get into it. I tend to lose the grip on my uke trying to get there. Anyone have any suggestions for that?
lisadmhParticipantAnything more in the “enlightened beginner” range would be fabulous. Or maybe it’s just plain old beginner. I struggle with the level one still but I’ve been through the beginner course. Thank you Andrew!

lisadmhParticipantA tenor! Any tenor. But I’ll pick this one. Kale Pacific walnut. Thank you. Looking forward to participating.
