lisadmhParticipantYou can just call me Jimmy now.
I’ve wanted to learn this one for years. Thanks for the challenge. There are some glitches, but I’m glad to add this to my regular practice cycle.

lisadmhParticipant@Andrew, in the video for Stairway to Heaven you teach a strumming outro to replace the solo, but it doesn’t seem to be notated. Do we have to do that? Or (sorry) but could it be notated? It’s simple but I can’t play it without seeing it. Thanks.
lisadmhParticipantHi Jeffrey. I’m Liz. I’m glad you found us. Check out the monthly challenge. We have fun there. Enjoy!

It’s not perfect. I struggle with a few of the transitions. I’ve enjoyed learning it and this is enough to keep it in my regular practice list so I can really settle on with it.

In my ongoing quest to play easier songs but to play them better, here is Waltz in C.

lisadmhParticipantThank you @Andrew! It’s always great to hear when I do something well!
@jbmills07, interesting take on this theme. I like it when people adapt arrangements and put their own spin on them. 🙂March 23, 2022 at 6:33 am in reply to: Participate in the March 2022 Member Challenge – Theme: Movie Magic! #51248
lisadmhParticipantI’ve played this one before but it has never stayed in my set list because it’s high G and I almost never pull out my high G anymore. So with a few small tweaks, I adapted it to low G and I’ll be playing it all the time now. I’m very happy about that.
This take doesn’t have quite my best sustain and the last theme is not quite spot on with timing as my fingers were getting cold, but it was my first outdoor recording of the season and the vibe was too good to not share. 🙂

lisadmhParticipant@Stephen: I hear the break from the rhythm at that one spot now. Thank you for pointing it out — I didn’t hear it before. I will fix it!

lisadmhParticipantI lead with my ring finger, getting it super quickly anchored in position on the 3rd fret of the E string to keep a hold on it while I transition the other two fingers.

lisadmhParticipantI’m not a natural strummer, but it is good for me to practice. Nice song.
lisadmhParticipantIt’s there, but it’s a little more hidden than it used to be. You have to get into songs to see them, where it used to be just listed in the songs section. I do miss it being so easily accessible. I like the idea of a news feed — like a separate tab that keeps a running endless list of those little notices of things as they were released.
lisadmhParticipantSounds great, Mark. I can’t seem to get that fast run clean, up to speed, and in time. You did fabulous on it. Thanks for sharing.

lisadmhParticipantHi friends. I did St. James Infirmary. I learned this three years ago, but I haven’t touched it in three years, so it was interesting to relearn. Here are both versions, now and then. I’ve been trying really hard to relax when playing. I think I’ve made some progress. This is the first time I’ve recorded standing up — somehow I was a little less tense I think…?

lisadmhParticipantHey, have you checked out the learning paths piece, linked below? It helps figure out how to structure your practice to make good progress. I think it’s probably normal to want to try everything at first. You’ll settle into a regular routine eventually. 🙂
