Premium Member, 1st song submission for April Challenge – Loki Lani.

Andrew this was by far the most challenging piece that I have tried to play. However you were with me the whole time (LOL) as I kept on hearing you say, play each note clearly, keep your rhythm, sustain your notes, pull offs should have the same tone quality as if plucked, don’t rush your slide – keep it in rhythm. I’m glad I took the challenge. After the 3 weeks of steady practice this is what came out. I seriously couldn’t practice it anymore. The last few days I got into Hone A Ka Wai and I’m really having fun with it and it seems so much easier to play. PS: Sorry sound is so low I can’t seem to get it any louder. I used my camera on my chromebook.

Hi Andrew and Christopher- Thank you for this course on Clawhammer technique. I’m really enjoying it! I’m planning on submitting one of the advanced versions for the challenge but I was wondering before I go to far if you could critique me on my right hand/wrist action. It just doesn’t seem to be moving in the same way as Christoper’s demonstrations.

Mary GraceWOW! Everyone is doing a fantastic job with their compositions along with playing them. Hopefully by next year I’ll have the knowledge to join you but for now I have a lot to learn as a beginner intermediate student. Thank you all for giving me the encouragement with your playing.
It would be helpful to receive education about the low G ukulele set up. Thinks that were helpful to me when I started where: What are the string choices and differences between them, why is this string so much different than the other strings, why do some songs sound better on low g and some better on high g, are all the note sounds on this string effected or just some of them, can you put the low g string on all size ukuleles, are some ukuleles better to handle the low g string than others. I’m sure there are many other questions that I haven’t even thought of when it comes to a low g.
I have both a low g uke and a high g uke and love playing both of them. Which one I want to play that day may depend on my mood or a beautiful song. Either way they are both fun!
