mickan88Participant@carynjoy Thank you! I’m really glad you enjoyed the fingerpicking etude—it was a lot of fun to play.
I’m also working on Beginner Level | Song 4 of 10 | “Chunking Etude” (Mini Lesson #18), and wow, it’s a tough one! Like you, I’m really struggling with those mid-measure chord changes. I’ve been focusing on measures 1–8 (Melody A) for the last couple of days, taking it slowly and trying to get each measure feeling comfortable before moving on.
My original goal was to post at least one more song this month, but I’m starting to think this one may have to wait until next month’s challenge. That said, I do love a good challenge, so we’ll see how much progress I can make over the next couple of weeks. 😊
Good luck with it—I look forward to hearing your version!July 10, 2026 at 2:04 pm in reply to: Participate in the July 2026 Member Challenge – WIN $549 Kala Ukulele #83733
mickan88Participant@annyuke your new Ukulele looks and sounds great! Great playing, too! Sorry about your other Uke, what a nightmare.

I’m loving the new course too, @Andrew —thank you! 😊
I can really relate to what @grannieannie said. I’ve kind of lost my motivation to practice temporarily, partly because of traveling and vacation. After getting back home, I found it surprisingly hard to get back into playing.
The new course (and, of course, the chance to win that gorgeous Kala Revelator Ukulele! 😄) gave me the push I needed to pick up my ukulele again. I decided to start right at the beginning and spend some time working on the basic techniques before moving on. It’s exactly what I need right now—slow and steady, building my way back into a regular practice routine.
Here’s my recording of the beginner piece, Fingerpicking Etude No. 37 – The In-and-Out Pattern. Back to basics! 😉May 9, 2026 at 10:42 am in reply to: Participate in the May 2026 Member Challenge – WIN $2,095 Kanile’a Ukulele #81448
mickan88Participant@Andrew Thank you! I chose tone over speed this time 😉 I wish I had a bit more time to practice this month, but we’re actually traveling to California in a couple of days, for a well needed vacation! And thank you as well for your kind words about my ukulele — yes, she sounds incredible! I’m so in love with her!

Hej everyone! @marianne, you played “The River Song” so beautifully — I’m in awe! 😊
My entry is coming in early as well because I have a very busy month ahead. I basically recorded a few practice moments and hoped they would be good enough to share here. The Lullaby Medley, performed very slowly for very sleepy babies LOL. I also tweaked the pieces just a tiny bit for low-G ukulele.
Happy May to you all!May 3, 2026 at 3:41 am in reply to: Participate in the April 2026 Member Challenge – WIN $2,095 Kanile’a Ukulele #81165

Herzlich willkommen to RockClass101! 😊 I’m also from Austria, but I’ve been living in Sweden for the past 18 years. Love your beautiful Soprano, you played the Travis Picking etude so well!May 3, 2026 at 3:33 am in reply to: Participate in the April 2026 Member Challenge – WIN $2,095 Kanile’a Ukulele #81164

Hi everyone! Fantastic entries so far!
Here’s mine. I’m hoping to record a better version before the deadline—I’m not quite where I want to be with this piece yet. There are still some irregularities, buzzes, and a bit of insecurity, mostly because I pushed the tempo faster than I’m fully comfortable with right now.
That said, Travis picking is a lot of fun! I even dug out a hat I bought in Texas back in 1999.

mickan88ParticipantGosh! That Kanilea ukulele is a stunner—I absolutely love mango wood! @malku2603, that’s a great start—well played! I’m currently working on the Travis Picking Etude. Travis picking is so much fun, and while I know the piece, I’m really struggling to match the speed Mika is playing it at. Luckily, there’s still time to improve.

Congratulations, your take on Winter Glass is the best here so far if you ask me! Beautifully played! You are very talented 🤙March 23, 2026 at 2:51 pm in reply to: Participate in the March 2026 Member Challenge: WIN a $129 Ohana Ukulele #80283
mickan88ParticipantMy submission for the March Challenge 🎶
This is my take on Winter Glass. Such a beautiful piece — I really enjoyed working on it. I love that it works with both Low G and High G.
Still a work in progress! I’m focusing on improving fluidity and getting rid of some buzzing, but I’m happy with how it’s developing so far.
I’m just sharing this for fun and to be part of the community — not entering to win that gorgeous Ohana ukulele 🙂 Good luck to everyone who is participating!
Looking forward to hearing everyone else’s versions — this community is always inspiring!
Thanks for listening 🙂

mickan88ParticipantSo this is it for February! Fantastic entries this month from everyone, congratulations! I really enjoyed every one of your posts! I’ve continued to practice Spanish Romance after I posted my entry last week and was able to build up speed. Besides the buzzes here and there I am really happy with the result. What’s next?

Hi everyone!
Here is my submission for this month. I chose “Spanish Romance” and adapted the arrangement for Low G ukulele. I have a very busy week ahead, so I’m posting a little earlier than usual. I’m hoping I might find some extra time to practice and possibly record another take—we’ll see! Otherwise, this is as good as it gets for now.
To @Marianne and everyone who has shared their performances so far—absolutely amazing work! 👏 -
