    I AM A PREMIUM MEMBER

Last minute for me too, but fortunately the sun goes down earlier for me.

I tried to focus the timing and had some aha-moments at situations when I usually tend to hang behind. Tho, I could not fix all passages due to a lack of time to practice.

Still I hope you can enjoy listening to my record:

I AM A PREMIUM MEMBER (but already have an entry for the Kanilea challenge)

When I posted the previous record, I realized that I still have plenty of time in your time zone, so I also did a record for Moon.
It is not quite as smooth as most people here can play it, but I hope you can recognize it, tho 😉
Had to do both of the songs, because I like them both very much and did not want to miss learning one of them.

To cut a long story short, here it is:

I hope it is still November where you are, had some trouble recording and exporting my entry.
This is technically not the best version I played, but I think I got all the notes at least 😉

Thanks for the challenge, had a great time studying it (also Moon, but I am not yet ready to “perform” it).

Thank you for the reply. Since I was not satisfied with the tapped harmonics of my ukulele (or its strings), I tried out some variations and found that you get very clear harmonics if you tap the chord with the side of your thumb. The curvature of the (my) over-extended thumb fits exactly the positioning of the frets in an A chord. And the hardness of the bone helps to give a precise impulse to the string in opposite to the flesh of the index finger that dampenes it.
Now I can practice the piece as usual 😉

    Hey Andrew,

At first, I was skeptical, but now I really like the choice to let us play “La Gitanita” because it is quite simple and, honestly, a bit boring when I heard it the first time. But by playing it myself and watching your tutorial, I realized that it has many different moods, to which you have to adjust individually. So, all in all, it is not that simple anymore but quite interesting and somewhat complex. A nice challenge.

Also, I do have a question: It seems to me that you only play the a-string of the tapped harmonic chord. Well, I could not manage to tap all 4 strings and it feels to me that it just is impossible. So why did you write it down as a chord if only one string is played? And if so, why did you decide to tap it instead of “harmonic plugging” it?

How comes that ukuleles you buy (online) are mostly not in a good tune? I tried out a lot, but each one of them would have needed some modifications to maintain a good tune over the frets.

Thank you very much for the content and the challenges!
To take part in that challenge, I have learned an entire song by heart for the first time. Usually I am not persistent enough.
And, I have to say, I underestimated the patience you need to have to get a good recording.. Could not go through it all those times you make a new video.
Last thing to say: I utilized a USB Phono PreAmp to record my playing, which is why it sounds a bit dull (not too bad for the percussive elements tho – make them sound like a heartbeat).

    Here you go:
