Hi, I am working on Day-O. Besides timing, the issue I’m having is inconsistent picking of the strings. It seems as though I’m not able to apply a even pressure across the strings. Measure 19 is an example of hesitation then uneven plucking.

Thanks Stephen. I know I’m having some rhythm challenges on it. I can’t seem to follow a backing track though. I’ll keep trying!

@funtime2018 – Great job! Here are my thoughts for you. And here is where I recommend starting and check out the reading course to truly tackle rhythm/timing.

Thank you Andrew! I’ll dig into your advice. Is there any assets on the site that instructs with my uneven plucking?

@funtime2018 – can you post a video? I’ll be better able to troubleshoot that if I can see what’s happening.

Hi Stephen, thanks for the advice. I’m gonna definitely try with slower tempo. Actually I did it earlier when I focused on the triplets but it’s a huge relief finishing them and I automatically played the rest a bit faster. 🙂 I haven’t practiced the backbeat so far but I’ll check that lesson next. Thanks, Eszter

Here’s my go at DayO. Lots of great entries as usual. @aloooy, I really liked the addition of a back beat, I’m going to try it, hopefully I can post a new recording before the end of the month.

@andrewvh – I thought you did a great job, Andrew! 2 things I would do: Memorize it and play along w/ the backing track. It’ll help smooth out the performance and keep you locked into the groove.

Def post a video if you add the backbeat! BTW – bravo, @aloooy! Sounds great! Love seeing you guys rise to the added challenge 🙂

    Hi again|

I posted my entry of “Hone a ka wai” a few days ago. This one (Loke lani) is just for practicing and sharing and because I had seen the tutorial about triplet struming and this was an excellent opportunity to put it into context.

Btw, congratulations to everyone I´m truly amazed

I had a lot of fun with this! I always wanted to learn more Hawaiian melodies on my ukulele and this finally gave me a chance. Definitely plan to continue practicing triplet in the future to get a cleaner sound. I had a lot of trouble at first finding a way to quickly change between chords without the neck falling out of my hands. Eventually I just decided to make a makeshift strap with some string I had.

Looking forward to next months challenge!

I’m so grateful for the Bodysurfing tutorial. Thank you Evan and Andrew! It’s a song I have been wanting to play for a long, long time. It’s way above my skill level, but I was determined to learn it. In the recording, I fell apart near the end, but I couldn’t bear to re-record it, especially after barely making it through the riff. Thank you RockClass101, you guys are the best!

Alright! I’ve never done this so I’m a little terrified. But here is my submission for the month of April. Phew!
