This is my June entry, In The Hall Of The Mountain King. I wish I had more time on this one. Thank you for the arrangement, this was fun.

Here’s my recording of La Donna è mobile. Featuring the amazing Loprinzi concert ukulele I won in the January challenge. A song more familiar to me as the one used in the pasta sauce and tomato paste ads here in Australia!
Found this piece quite difficult to learn. I put a lot of practice time into the B section and still have some more work to do to get it better. I gave up on the harmonic at the end too, just couldn’t regularly land it.

Who loved Evan’s arrangement of the most moving piece of operatic music. Nessun Dorma.
I still love it, even after my treatment of it.

Here’s my try at in the hall of the mountain king. I had to figure out how to change the tabs slightly to allow for this to be played without the top string since I have a low G from the previous months challenges. I was really pushing myself to keep up with the pace, and I didn’t quite manage it, but I’m getting there.

AndrewKeymaster@krajisunny – Bravo! Beautiful played! I’m going to share it in our newsletter this Friday 🙂
@concan – Love it! Both of you did amazing 🙂
@lynnzo – Great playing! Keep working on that last melody, it’s tricky being so high up the neck but that cutaway definitely helps 🙂
@ccwuke – Awesome job! Way to go on keeping the timing and energy up! As you continue practicing, I would focus on cleaning up the chords that didn’t ring clear.I made this video the other day for Linda. It shows you how you can simplify the tune to focus on the chord work. Give this method a shot in tandem with practicing the piece as notated.
@terryfallon3 – Way to go, Terry! One of the best performances I’ve heard from you! Amazing job getting the rhythms down. I actually think that’s one of the hardest aspects of this arrangement.I’ve got one tip for you, try to keep your fingers planted as you build chords. For example, the E chord in bar 1. You’re lifting up after each note. This cuts the sustain.
Double check that part in the lesson because I remember talking about tips for playing this tricky section.
@kmoore925x – I think you’re there! Adaption sounded great, as did your playing. Well done!June 29, 2022 at 2:46 am #52449qiuyan
ParticipantThank you Andrew for the feedback! I did notice this problem, but it’s a bit challenging to apply enough force esp. at lower frets…

Here’s my June submission of In The Hall Of The Mountain King. I liked the challenge of working so far up the neck and also playing with the backing track. Thanks for a great lesson. I am looking forward to the long weekend and some time to view the other submissions. Happy July 4th to those celebrating. I wonder how the 1812 Overture or Stars and Stripes would sound on the ukulele?
Take care,

I have been working on Here Comes the Bride. Some of the transitions proved very tricky and I need a few more weeks to smooth it out. I’m just glad to get a version on tape before the end of the month!! Thanks!June 29, 2022 at 9:58 pm #52454

My choice this month was “In The Hall of The Mountain King”.
Between traveling and work it was not easy to fit in practice and recording. Did my best and hope it sounds somewhat descent.🤞🏽 Congrats to all participants on your submissions!Joanne 🤗

Here is my submission of La Donna è mobile. I really enjoyed learning this piece. I would have never thought I would have enjoyed playing an opera song, but I guess you never know until you try 🙂 Big thanks to RockClass 101 for expanding my musical horizons!

Thanks for the challenge😅….One thing that I have noticed in my playing is stiffness and hesitancy….and gripping the neck so you can actually hear the thumb rubbing against the wood as it moves….I was impressed with Michael Morrissey’s (Mr. Bones). easy flow….I realize it’s not as easy as he makes it look😜…..By the way… Go Bills!
Also, I have been hearing a high pitched ringing coming from the A string…what is that?

Hi,
This month I learnt “March Of The Toreadors”. I’ve been very busy at School with A LOT of exams and assessments, so I only learnt this song today. I need to work on the end a bit more, but I’m having fun playing it. 😁

My challenge this month is Habanera.
I enjoyed the learning and playing and sounds like fitting for tango. 🙂
