AndrewKeymasterYou should always avoid using the b9 in non dominant chords, which as you’ll hear in the video, it sounds very dissonant.

AndrewKeymaster@puppylovesuke – My pleasure! I look forward to watching your November performance 🙂

AndrewKeymasterplanetfink – Wow, your playing was simply sublime. Absolutely nailed the feel. What a pleasure to listen to. 🙂
cauer2 – Dang, you killed the strumming section Chris! Great feel, tempo, and I love the strong accents on the melody. Now I do have two minor critiques. If you tap along from the beginning, you’ll notice that you came in just a touch late with the strum section.
Try to tap your foot along as you play, especially in breaks. On the other hand, you aced the timing for the transition from strumming back to fingerpicking.
Lastly, I hear a slight rush in tempo in the final fingerpicking section.
Anyways very minor stuff, and I’m actually super guilty of doing the latter. I think my nerves get the best of me at the end of arrangements.
nthibode – Beautiful rendition, Nathalie! There’s only one thing that stood out to me that I’d like to point out. At 2:43, you tug the D note down. This is commonly referred to as a micro-bend. Which stands for microtonal and usually describes a quarter-step bend. It’s used a lot in blues guitar, and if I remember right, it’s something I talked about in the lesson.
So if you listen to your performance, you did it a couple times before the timestamp above. But that one at the timestamp had the best sound, while the others felt a little too sharp to my ear. So do an A – B comparison and I think you’ll hear the difference. Less is more with those type of bends, so always go for a subtle pull down, which is exactly how you did the last one.

AndrewKeymasterI added a 2nd video of @planetfink’s performance, so folks in the USA can watch it 🙂

AndrewKeymasterIt should count down to 0 regardless of where you are. I’ll make sure to double check it’s correct a few hours before next month’s broadcast.

AndrewKeymasterSorry about that Robin! Matt told me the counter was wrong right before the lesson, but I wasn’t home to fix it. I guess daylight savings time changed the setting I had set.
AndrewKeymaster@miztaken – Actually that’s hard to answer. I’d have to see each person’s playing to pinpoint any issue(s).
AndrewKeymasterHere’s what’s happening and it has nothing to do w/ holding the uke:

AndrewKeymaster@lyndallk – That’s what I’m talkin’ bout! That pace lets the music breathe. Great job, I’ll be sharing this one soon on our social 🙂

AndrewKeymaster@lisadmh – they are def there! But, I think less is more with a tune like this. So’ I’d use it more sparingly. I read Stephen’s comment, and I think that’s what he meant, as he spoke about adding it in the Bridge sections.
With that said I hear more accenting on AJ’s, then overall volume swells.
AndrewKeymasterAwesome, glad that helped 🙂
AndrewKeymasterI think I know what’s happening. I just need to see you play through it w/out talking or stopping. And please sit just as you always do, not in any special position for the camera.
AndrewKeymasterHave you tried simplifying the way you strum it? Check out the video in this post that I made for another member. It also talks about counting the rhythms as you play. That should help out a lot.
See if you can get through the first few chords w/ method above and post a video of it. Happy to take a look and offer further suggestions.
