AndrewKeymaster@lhamilton – Excellent progress, Linda! I’m looking forward to hearing your arrangement π
@The_Bumble_Bard – It’s coming together very nicely, Rachael! Love the haunting feel/vibe.
@jedart – Timing is sounding good, Jed! Try not to rush the triplets at 47 seconds.
@malku2603 – Wow! Great job on the speed and feel, Akansha!January 7, 2024 at 11:58 pm in reply to: Participate in the January 2024 Member Challenge β You Decide What To Work On! #60166
AndrewKeymaster@jedart – Sorry about that! They got caught in the spam folder, which happens when 2 videos are embedded in the same post. Unfortunately, there’s not a way for me to relax that rule. But I approved the post and they are showing now π
AndrewKeymasterGlad to have you here with us, Jamie! I’d keep going. One thing you can do is use those exercises in module 2, unit 5 as a warm-up when you first pick up your uke to start practicing.
When you’ve got those down, I’d replace them with a more musical-sounding exercise, such as the beginner level units in modules 2, 3, and 4 from our Fingerpicking Course.
You should join us for this month’s challenge. Challenges help keep folks motivated. I’d recommend picking 1 of the 3 performance pieces from Module 5 (in the Beginner’s Course) as your goal for this month.
AndrewKeymasterI’ve actually asked Matt about using the ghost strum before with a low G, and in his opinion, it doesn’t work. This is because the high G creates a drone, whereas a low G would stand out too much. With that said, if you like how it sounds on a low G, go for it! But his advice would be to save this strumming technique for a high G.

AndrewKeymasterAmazing progress, Tim! Really nice job on the strumming techniques, timing, and feel π

AndrewKeymaster@malku2603 – Beautifully played, keep up the great work! π
AndrewKeymasterWow, Rick! That is quite the resume. Very happy to have you on-board. I look forward to hearing you play π

AndrewKeymaster@brettboy – I do! Check out this song. I always liked this song and the keys part translated really well to the uke using tapping. π
And for artificial harmonics, this is def the most challenging song we’ve arranged.
@The_Bumble_Bard – I like it! It has a haunting feel to it.January 1, 2024 at 2:27 pm in reply to: Participate in the January 2024 Member Challenge β You Decide What To Work On! #60087
AndrewKeymasterHappy NY everyone! Looks like we have some awesome ideas this year π
@malku2603 – I think either option works for your playing level, so I would pick the one you’d like to learn first. Alternatively, you could work on both if time permits.
AndrewKeymasterThe printable tab should match the lesson. With performances, sometimes we play a section or two slightly different, so I update the Soundslice player tab to reflect those changes.
If you need help on a specific part, please let me know. π

Together, we have now raised $2,265 for the charity! AMAZING!
