The_Bumble_BardParticipantSo good! He did such a great job and the ending is so cute! Keep it up! π
The_Bumble_BardParticipant@leb397, you hide the struggle pretty well! π Yes, tweens and younger are probably the most tech-savvy of them all. I’m pretty sure my two-year-old niece is more tech-savvy than I am. π Thank you kindly! Yes, December. π³
@gi_gi_ yes! I wanted to ask @Andrew to perhaps create more looper-related material at some point!
The_Bumble_BardParticipant@surferjay, am I confused (again) or is that Linkin Park? That was bothering me so much earlier because it sounded so familiar but I couldn’t place it. Either way, it’s so cool, listening to it again now!
It still sounds like it’s from a good sci-fi movie. π
Looking forward to that when you get a chance and hopefully I can get some even neater loops going, loop friend! ππ
The_Bumble_BardParticipant@surferjay, that was so dang good, man! So inspiring to see your loops. I’m almost confident that reverb is the echo-y effect, right? So neat! It sounds like something that would be in the show Firefly, if you know what that is (R.I.P.). It’s basically a sci-fi show / movie about space cowboys. π π
Thank you for sharing that! I’m so inspired and hopefully can add some more loops soon too! π
@leb397, every time I see your posts I think about a.) how cool and tech-savvy you are, and b.) chocolate covered raisins because that came up once that we both like them. That is all. ππNovember 29, 2022 at 11:52 am in reply to: Participate in the November 2022 Member Challenge β WIN $6,000 Kanileβa #54830
The_Bumble_BardParticipantThank you kindly for the feedback, @Stephen! I was just horsin’ around with the “imaginary frets,” but I’ll practice more on the actual frets of my concert uke going forward. And work on the chord transitions. Thank ye! π

The_Bumble_BardParticipant@brettboy, that was so good! All the side bars of you “being Link” in your backyard–so beautiful. π I hope your neighbors saw that. π ππ
Also I tried to copy the slides you added to Zelda’s Lullaby. Thank yoooou!
The_Bumble_BardParticipant@surferjay, I’m almost confident that I know what you’re saying. I’ll have to give that a whirl and see if it gets rid of the pause. Obviously it wouldn’t hurt if you had time to make a video to demonstrate, too, but I’m almost confident that I get ya. Thank ye for that explanation! π
That’s why I kept the first part of the loop so simple, with single notes, just so I had a better chance of getting the timing right. Also that’s how I had it in the arrangement I made that this loop was based on: starting with single notes and building to more complicated ……. Things. Even though I know it’s not 100% accurate to the original song, still working on that.
Anyway thanks for explainin’ all that, friend! π
The_Bumble_BardParticipantYou guys, I can’t even, man! You’re gonna make me cry! Thank you!! I feel so dang encouraged and even more amped up to try more loops!! π ππ
@gi_gi_, I so look forward to hearing your loops when you get a chance! Can’t wait! π
@surferjay, you’re so dang kind, man! I smiled so much at your guyseses’ encouraging words! With the timing, the trickiest part was figuring out when to push the pedal button so there wouldn’t be a pause at the beginning / end of the loop. I thought pushing the button was counted as a “beat,” but I think maybe it ends the loop instantly. Not sure if that makes sense. But the time it takes to press the button is obviously a factor. Still working on figuring that out.So excited to try more! When I do, I’ll share them here! Thank you guys again! ππ

The_Bumble_BardParticipantWelp, that was incredible! Well done, @jass007!
The_Bumble_BardParticipantThat was so great, madz! I can’t get over how much the uke sounds like a video game from this era for some reason. But that was lovely! π

The_Bumble_BardParticipantNever played one second of a Zelda game in my life (other than Super Smash Bros and Mario Kart–both of which I’m terrible at), but I agree with @leb397 that all these stories of nostalgia are so sweet and fun to read!
In my youf, I played PC games and DOS games, if anyone knows what that is. And Sega Genesis Disney games–The Lion King, Aladdin, and one with Mickey Mouse. And Jump! music games for piano. Good times.
Anyway, I pretty much learned this because it was stuck in my head anyway lol. Lovely chunes and lovely work by everyone!Β π
@Andrew, please omit my name from the prize drawing again, thank ye!
The_Bumble_BardParticipant@lisadmh, they weren’t obvious at all! I feel like we notice our own mistakes more than other people ever do. π
The_Bumble_BardParticipant@lisadmh, that was so lovely! I love that idea! I watched the whole thing and you didn’t really make many mistakes at all, especially for playing so long! Pretty impressive! Also, I feel like I need to go to the beach now, but not where I live. π
@surferjay, it’s Ukulele: RAW and Uncut… Sweet tunes on the beach. ππ ππNovember 7, 2022 at 6:09 pm in reply to: Nov 8, 2022 – Live Lesson: 3 Things I Learned From Playing Ukulele For 10k Hours #54616
The_Bumble_BardParticipantgi_gi_ , haha yes, I’m sure some people do view time spent as dollar signs (which arguably it is sometimes), but I agree: it’s all about the love of music. And this has been a great discussion. π
Taimane is becoming one of my ukulele heroes. She’s amazing. Confession: I sometimes impersonate her “uke dancing” to dispel anxiety before recording songs. π ππ
@recdog, if you can play classical music on guitar or uke on autopilot I feel like that’s quite the accomplishment. πThis entire discussion is probably way too many words to read during the live lesson, but if there’s time, Matt, can you please read the following quote from earlier:
Time is just a vehicle, man. Where will the driver go? What roads will they take, the scenic route or the freeway? Will they stop at Arbyβs for curly fries? #destiny, man.

The_Bumble_BardParticipant@leb397, I meant to say earlier, I love the way you describe your experience of playing uke as being just for your own enjoyment and self-accomplishment. To me that’s a beautiful idea.
