annefgodfreyMemberHi Becky7777. Thanks for sharing what you called “failed attempts to play music”. Bet if completely honest, we, your friends at Rock Class, have had quite a few failed attempts, as well. Some of mine include piano, drums, flute & now, giving my beautiful “Bella” (name I call my ukulele) my best efforts. Hang in there, Becky.
And thank you, rickeymike, for the many encouraging words you share & of course, many thanks to Andrew. He is giving us his all to teach us to play this wonderful instrument. Kudos on his teaching us to read music (not just tabs), to make rhythm as important as melody & harmony, & his encouraging us to play with feeling & passion.
Thank you, Becky, for sharing. By the way, you are quite the writer! Heartfelt & expressive your post. Love to all of you at RC101. Anne
annefgodfreyMemberHAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY to all at Rock Class.

annefgodfreyMemberOur prayers & best wishes for you, hotmilktea, & your loved one to get better, quickly.
You are so right about music bringing peace & relief, especially these beautiful ukulele pieces that Rock Class is teaching us. A BIG, BIG HUG for you both.
annefgodfreyMemberThanks so much, dear friends, for your response to Andrew’s special request.
So excited to see which song Andrew chooses!
Sending big hugs for each of you.

annefgodfreyMemberThank you, Andrew, for help with triplets.
Hope you are feeling much better.
annefgodfreyMemberTom & I are overwhelmed with your kind words & grateful for your prayers.
Tom enters his seventh year of hemodialysis the end of this month. He is on constant oxygen for COPD & survived a complete blockage to his posterior descending artery of his heart in July. Tom is filled with courage & gives his best to stay with his large family who loves him dearly.
You have touched our hearts in such a special way. We love each of you. Thank you for this incredible gift.
annefgodfreyMemberWhat love you bestow! Thank you. Thank you Andrew & Rock Class friends!
Here’s the five favorite list:
Theme from Mondo Cane (More)
Under Paris Skies (Sous lê ciel de Paris)
Kenny Rogers’ Through the Years
The Beatles’ When I’m Sixty Four
Theme from “An Affair to RememberTom & I send our love back to each of you.
Andrew, you are the one who is AWESOME!January 30, 2019 at 1:42 pm in reply to: Participate in the January 2019 Member Challenge – You Decide What To Work On! #24791
annefgodfreyMemberAndrew, thank you for a great challenge.
Execution: I completed course on HOW TO WRITE A SONG. Your teaching principles of melody, harmony & rhythm are very helpful.
Application: Your song, DAYDREAMING, is so much fun. It was not difficult to memorize but execution, for me, another story. Playing the triplets in Melody B is still quite a struggle! Chord transition remains very difficult for me to do, especially in rhythm. Measures 12 & 13 are fascinating to watch you perform; for me, a major stumbling block!
Evaluation: Hopefully, I will attach a piece of James Ingram’s JUST ONCE in which I am attempting to use a lead sheet from various sources but substitute chords by way of learning your explanation of the CAGED METHOD.
I do not expect to have my name in the draw this month because I cannot perform DAYDREAMING at this time but thank you for an amazing challenge of which we have all learned so much.

annefgodfreyMemberThose learning Bouree might find of interest.
Perhaps Andrew would give extra credit to anyone who could perform the Baroque dance while playing ukulele version. Just kidding!January 23, 2019 at 7:41 pm in reply to: Participate in the January 2019 Member Challenge – You Decide What To Work On! #24327
annefgodfreyMemberHi Andrew,
If you have a minute, would you please do a brief demo on triplets in DayDreaming.
Thanks so much,

annefgodfreyMemberAndrew, thank you for helping with volume issues. Your suggestions have been taken to heart. A long way to go but hope this shows some improvement on last month’s Auld Lang Syne.

annefgodfreyMemberAndrew, my question concerns amplification of ukulele for recording via iPhone 7 Plus:
1. My submissions sound so “anemic” compared to all other students. In part, I probably play too softly.
2. A gentleman at Guitar Wishes demonstrated for me a uke with hole in bottom connected to an Acoustic Amplifier via cable. Sounded fabulous but I am extremely hesitant to have even a professional hole drilled in my soprano Kanele’a.
3. Your course on recording gives excellent suggestions but is expensive for a person in my income bracket. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
