Happy Halloween to all!October 27, 2018 at 3:22 pm in reply to: Question about stock laptop mic, vs. VERY inexpensive pickup #19500
annefgodfreyMemberMy ukulele is a Lohanu Concert style that was a gift to me a year ago. Many of my notes sound muted. I have ordered Aquila 8U Nylgut Concert Low-G Strings & also tried oiling ukulele to help sound become more mellow. Any suggestions for improving sounds? Perhaps, the problem is my own fingerpicking & not the ukulele but I practice everyday & have truly given my best at learning to play.
Thanks for suggestions.

annefgodfreyMemberThank you for prayers & well wishes for my husband, Tom.
He is doing well & got good reports from family doc & cardiologist this week.
Congrats to all of you who have submitted to October challenge. I’m still trying but cannot begin to transition in St. James Infirmary. Will keep practicing.Uke players have got to be some of the nicest people on earth.
Hugs & blessings upon you all,

annefgodfreyMemberAndrew, at this point, my heart’s desire is simply to learn St. James Infirmary with some degree of smooth transitions. So far, a disaster not to mention, at 75, have I lost all “muscle memory”!
Complicating the issue is my husband’s recent heart attack. He is doing well but I would be grateful for Rock classmates’ prayers for my husband.
Question: I am practicing like crazy. To learn this piece has become an obsession. May I keep working & give you my best…even if a complete mess, rather than changing selection “mid-stream”?
Thanks for such a great experience enjoying Rock Class 101. Best wishes to all! Anne

annefgodfreyMemberWhat a prize to shoot for! But, if I can learn & submit St. James, that’s a huge reward in itself.
Rock Class does ROCK & you, Andrew, are a fabulous teacher. Good luck to all on this challenge!

annefgodfreyMemberIt is obvious from my gnarled hands that I am “an older dog” trying desperately to learn to play the ukulele. My rhythm is way off as I search for notes & attempt to use proper fingers on different strings.
Andrew, your classes are awesome & have afforded hours of enjoyment. I thank you & look forward to improving.
Sincerely,
Anne Godfrey -
