I love playing in low-g, though I had a bit of trouble with muting as I’m not yet used to the concert size. I really enjoyed learning this song. Happy holidays everyone.

I really enjoyed learning and practicing this tune. It stretched my memorizing skills though, phew, in a good way. I feel I am slowly gaining a better flow with my fingerpicking and I’m plucking the strings less forcefully. I still really struggle with trickier chord transitions no matter how much I practice.
I have a couple of mutes in my performance but overall I’m happy.October 27, 2020 at 3:28 pm in reply to: Participate in the October 2020 Member Challenge – WIN the Islands Kanile’a #41513
lissidParticipantThank you for the encouraging feedback and for the excellent lesson @Steven
I completely didn’t realize my overcomplicated double stop in there – no wonder it took me longer to master that part 😅

lissidParticipantThis was a lot of fun to play! After submitting I noticed the mic picked up my boys playing in the background, oops haha!

lissidParticipantThanks @Andrew for the feedback! Much appreciated. I’m glad I wasn’t overextending too much with the tune pick.
And so exciting, big congrats to you @kittycatlin 👏 😃

lissidParticipantBeen wanting to learn this song and glad I had the challenge to motivate me haha. I tried so many takes to record this and I felt so tense in my playing but I am happy I finally got the harmonics to ring, especially the second one.

lissidParticipantThanks Andrew, I appreciate the feedback 🙂
Accenting and dynamics is a struggle, as I’m focusing so much on not muting ha, especially when barring. I will keep at it!September 1, 2020 at 1:16 am in reply to: Participate in the August 2020 Member Challenge – Theme: Songs You Requested! #40659
lissidParticipantI know I am past the deadline to be included in the contest but I hope I can still get feedback 🙂
Wowza. This song. Rainbow Connection is a lovely piece, really fun to learn and it taught me a lot. It also really shows off the weaknesses of my novice playing, so I’m interested to hear critiques/observations. I didn’t realize just how much I tend to pluck/attack the strings until I watched the video haha.
Thanks for another great tutorial.
I also really enjoyed watching everyone’s submissions – great job everyone!

lissidParticipantMy submission of Yankee Doodle! I am a beginner of 3 months so this song was a great way to practice those tricky double stops. I am still working on my right hand form, something I noticed even more when recording myself ha. I love the end harmonic but I am still working on the timing so that it rings out. Thanks Andrew for another awesome challenge this month!
