lyndallkParticipantHi everyone
Just had a chance to listen to the postings early in the month (having been away for the first 2 1/2 weeks) Wow, I’m so impressed. What a great community – ukulele players are the best.
I’m impressed that so many put their postings up so early in the month.
jakeypoo – you’re amazing! And such a cute uke.
nggnmmm – looks like fun with that new uke. I’m sure you’ve solved the low G issue – but I was thinking – if you think its the right pitch – maybe you just tuned the high G string down an octave. That would make the string way to loose to give a good sound. You need a new string that is especially to be a low G. Just a thought! Nice playing though
deadbuggy – love the changes you made – particularly extending the harmonics. I’m going to pinch that idea and see how it works in the quieter parts.
Robin – I really can’t wait for your full piece (with Tiffany! And the cat!) I like the idea of doing separate themes and then we see the final..

lyndallkParticipantBecky7777 – Still looking forward to hearing what you post. This group is so good because we all get to move forward together. Hey – today its torrential rain (we got a month’s rainfall in 2 hours) and quite cold (for us). There’s flash floods all over the city. So much for nice sunny weather.
Thanks incywincy and mheiden for your kind words
lyndallkParticipantWhat a lovely uke! Lucky you. I wonder how often it will be played before Xmas?

lyndallkParticipantrobinboyd – i love your cat! Hilarious. I do look forward to hearing your finished product! How good to have such a lovely singer too.
hondamom – thanks – glad you liked it. Its turning my household into lunatics!
becky7777 – I do realise – dripping with meaning! We’re just going into summer here in Sydney. Its going to be a scorcher (that’s Australian for “really hot”). I can’t imagine what it is to shovel snow. I look forward to hearing your entry…

lyndallkParticipantYes Robinboyd – It’s just my iphone mic. I’d really like it not to do that! Any thoughts? Maybe I was too far away from the phone

lyndallkParticipantHi everyone.
I have loved the challenge of “Moon” and the arrangement. Evan you are really talented. I was away until last Sunday without my low G uke, so have been working on this almost to obsession level (did I say almost?). I’m really pleased with this recording – I’ve got more relaxed recording – still a way to go though. I made a bunch of mistakes but think that I masked them well. There is no way I can play the whole piece without the music (yet). So that’s just how it is.
The mic doesn’t do the tone of the uke justice but oh well!
Thanks Andrew for the great challenge. It is really useful reading your feedback to others. I’m looking forward to what December will bring ……

lyndallkParticipantHi Brettboy. I am very impressed that you were able to transcribe it for the baritone Its such a challenging piece – and you did it with two instruments!!

lyndallkParticipantI’m having a second go at St James Infirmary. On the tenor uke this time. I’m so with Sheryl – why does the record button interfere with my playing so thoroughly. That said bar 46 is a mess, and I will continue to work on it.
Andrew, and Stephen I find your feedback on everyone’s submissions very useful. Thanks so much.
I’m looking forward to the November challenge. Going to give Moon a try. I’m away most of Nov so will only have my High G sop uke. But I figure I’ll practice on that and come home to the Low G tenor….

lyndallkParticipantThanks for your feedback Stephen – just to be clear – it was my first recording. I had practiced it!! Good grief!
But I’ve practiced more and plan to post it again on the tenor ukulele in the next couple of days.
Cheers

St James Infirmary – take 1
I recorded this last week while I was away. There’s a big jerky bit right in the middle. I hope to record a smoother up to speed version later in the month. Thanks for the challenge Andrew, and like everyone else, I love the prize. One of us will win it!
Cheers
