lyndallkParticipantHere is “Moon” revisited. I find knowing it off by heart, I am able to get more musicality in it, and I did enjoy adding the voice.
So many great entries!
@marianne – amazing beautiful.March 16, 2025 at 6:30 pm in reply to: Participate in the March 2025 Member Challenge – Rewind & Replay! #66034
lyndallkParticipantOops. Too late to go into the draw. But I’d like to do the challenge anyway. Here’s Moon by Taimane from 6 years ago. I’d like to do it without music and include voice this time.

Good grief! I thought I was too late. Then I remembered – its still 31 October in USA!!!! I had a few hours this morning so I decided to just do it. Not memorised, but there you have it – Blue Moon.
Great entries everyone
PS @mkstewart67 Many of us have that reaction when recording – dare I say all of us??

Here is “Axel F” This was a good excercise in timing for me! Thanks both Stevens for the arrangement and the bass track.

I’m very pleased with my ability to play “Where is My Mind?” But not so much the video – I did a mess up on one of my favourite parts in the instrumental bit. Oh well. I’m away for the rest of May, so don’t have time to do another recording.
Beautiful and unusual arrangement of this song, Steven.

I only had 10 days because I didn’t start until way too late. Still I decided to give ‘The Aching Waltz’ a go (because I love it.) I couldn’t quite get the entire lead and rhythm learned, so I played against the backing tracking without the lead, and played along with much of the rhythm. This is as good as I can get the recording at this late stage. Its 75%. That said, I play like a musical genius in my room, alone, without the record button on! 🙂
Thanks for the great challenge – again. I learn so much. Also love all the submissions from those I know and those I’m getting to know.

lyndallkParticipantJust had a perusal through the submissions. So many in and such good choices and playing. I do appreciate this community so much.
So, a little late on 21st April – I started playing “The Aching Waltz!” What is wrong with me? There’s less than 10 days! But I can’t go past gypsy jazz. So I tried learning everything like Andrew suggests. Ain’t gonna happen. I might get a handle on the lead. Not both lead and rhythm. The hardest bit I reckon is the little solo bit in the rhythm. And then its learning the whole thing off by heart. Why didn’t I start three weeks ago? I’ve spent two days, so too late to change tunes… Hopefully I’ll get a submission in.
January 27, 2024 at 3:07 am in reply to: Participate in the January 2024 Member Challenge – You Decide What To Work On! #60370
lyndallkParticipantThis month I decided to learn “Stolen Moments” by Oliver Nelson. I love this tune. So I found a uke version on YouTube by Phil Disera and decided to study that and learn the chords. I’m still a bit stilted in the chord changes, but pretty pleased for the work I’ve put in.
Then I realised I did need bass and drums, so searched for a backing track, found one, slowed it down and stopped it before the solos. Not doing the solo this challenge.
I gave myself quite a challenge, but am pleased with it at the stage it is. Next life – a full jazz band!!!
I’m really enjoying listening to the variety of challenges people have set themselves. I’m very impressed by the creativity, talent and work of this community.
Thanks again Andrew for a great challenge.
