Andrew: I submitted the Travis Picking Etude, Reply # 62662. The rhythm doesn’t sound like the model nor like what other people have submitted. What am I doing wrong? It seems like I have “swung” the rhythm while others are playing straight rhythm. Please correct me! Thanks.
@andrew. Thank you for your suggestion, comments and links. I will practice. And will never forget to mention the “I am a Premium Member” again. (I saw that instruction after I submitted, and just thought, “Oh Well..” .so,,.Thank you!!)
@ukealori. I think your Yellow Submarine is great! You manage the barre chirds and that “chunk” sound like a pro. (I’m envious!) As for memorizing, have you tried singing (just for yourself!)? Recently my teacher (of another instrument) suggested I sing melodies in “solfege”–the “do re mi” syllables. To my huge surprise this has made a big difference for me. (For example, Yellow Submarine starts “mi fa soooooo mi re mi do…”. I’m sure you can master this too.
Hi Andrew, Here is my attempt at Yellow Sub. As you will see, I have not yet mastered barre chirds, and even substituted for one of them. Will that disqualify my entry to the Challenge? If so, no worries. I enjoy playing the song. PLUS I can see from the videos that I need to keep my left hand fingers close to the fretboard at all times. Valuable learning all around!

I here submit the Aguado Waltz in C. Originally I wanted to learn “Summertime Blues”, but that is clearly beyond my finger power at this moment. An excellent challenge!
