rickeymikeMemberI’m sure you are correct Kay. As a beginner, I’ve just never came across that problem yet. Ha. BTW, I tried searching for the song “pachebel” but I couldn’t find it.
rickeymikeMemberI became a member in July and play a soprano. I’ve never had a problem with the songs or lessons. I don’t see where this site is geared to a larger ukulele. You should do just fine with a soprano.

rickeymikeMemberVery good, Lisa. In this case it does “mean a thing if you ain’t got that swing”!

rickeymikeMemberLOL, Lisa
Andrew wouldn’t be Andrew without a “good, but”. And that’s why we’re all here. Correct?December 11, 2017 at 5:59 am in reply to: Participate in the December 2017 Member Challenge For Charity – Holiday Themed #14927
rickeymikeMemberHi Chip,
Glad to hear from a fellow struggler. Once I took Andrew’s advice and used tablature set to full page and synthetic, It fell into place with those extra notes. I set it at 75% and it worked great for me understanding the extra notes between words of the song. I’ve got to push myself on this one because my deadline is Christmas Eve instead of the end of month.

rickeymikeMemberNice Lisa. I’m also going the strumming route. After my shaky start, I’ve progressed to bar 12.
rickeymikeMemberSimply fantastic, Alissa. I appreciate all the work you’ve put into it. Feliz Navidad!

rickeymikeMemberThat was great, mom. I’m still on the first 4 bars. I guess you are not called Ultra Mom for nothing!

rickeymikeMemberJust watched the video that you referenced. I never knew that I could do all that with the tab player. I don’t take my old advice i.e. get to know your software because it is so much more powerful than you think. Thanks, and I promise not to bother you for at least 7 days. :).

rickeymikeMemberAndrew, here’s my upload of the first 4 bars. I’m having trouble matching the words and syllables of words to these four bars. There must me some notes that don’t get a corresponding word. So is it possible to tell me the corresponding words to these bars. I believe that I’ve played the bars according to instruction. Sorry to be a pain.
rickeymikeMemberSuperb, Andrew. Getting ready for bed so I’ll delve into this more tomorrow. Ha. But I think I’m getting it now. I was trying to sing along with those first few bars as you played them and now I realize that the first bar is sung SI I LENT NIGHT (1,2,3&4). Then the next bar is NO singing then repeating the next line HO O LY NIGHT (1,2,3&4). I did figure out on my own that I could strum the chords optionally and I pretty much gathered that this was probably one of your first recordings. So to repeat, I would sing along as : Silent night (dah, dah, dah) Holy night (dah, dah dah). That taking me through the first 4 bars. Is this a Professor Higgins moment? haha. If I got it, then my advice to others is don’t try to sing it without the “non singing notes” of bars 2 and 4.

rickeymikeMemberMerry Christmas and holiday season to all the RockClass community. I would like to pledge a dollar for every entrance to this month’s challenge up to one hundred entries. I’ll leave it up to Andrew to give the official final count of participants.
Sincerely, Rickey

rickeymikeMemberThanks, Andrew. You know, when I played it back (it was one take), I DID notice those pauses. I must admit that I never did make use of the metronome and the on screen tab viewer. I’ve watched it but never attempted to play along because I thought that I could never keep up with it. Push, Rickey, push!
