rickeymikeMemberHere I revisit Our First Song. I’m posting the one I did in July as a new member also. Looks like I cut at least 30 seconds off the first performance.

rickeymikeMemberGreat playing, classicuke. I just started with Melody A. Hope I can get it as well as you have.

rickeymikeMemberDays of the week (snap, snap) Days of the week, days of the week, days of the week (snap snap). This is what I will forever think of when playing Addams theme. Dying to find out what happened to Thursday and Friday. Ha.

rickeymikeMemberChipkk Thanks. I did have a lot of fun learning this one.
Andrew – Ha. Singing and playing at the same time is like patting head and rubbing belly simultaneously. My playing had to slow down in parts when I was trying to remember the song’s lines. I went back and watched my “struggling video” with the G chord. Oh, gee! Was that me a few weeks ago. Ha. I pushed just like you said. Thanks.

rickeymikeMemberAs they say, if you’re lacking in talent, then razzle – dazzle ’em. Haha.

rickeymikeMemberThanks, Andrew. I’ll be the first to admit that I do need a lot of practice on forming the G chord especially with the middle and ring fingers. Sharp eye on your part. I will put in extra practice on this because I DO have trouble moving the middle and ring, My mind tells me to lift up or press down with either of these two fingers but my fingers don’t listen and I use the wrong finger. HaHa. 10 days and counting. Wish me luck. Hope you enjoyed Panama City. Last time I was there, I was a refugee from Katrina.

rickeymikeMemberWhy do you hold the ukulele low and near parallel to the ground?

rickeymikeMemberDid I do it 4 times or 5 times in a row? Haha. Don’t think that I hit a sour A note but let me know. Like I said, this is a struggle and I need to move on to the D chords ’cause time is running out.

rickeymikeMemberThanks for the feedback, Andrew. And thanks for pointing out my left hand dexterity. Do you have a particular course module for this. I promise I’ll warm up with it 5 minutes each day before I start learning “Adam’s Family”. When I took up the Uke this past January and before I even bought a ukulele, I went through 2 weeks of arguing with my group instructor over playing left handed. I’m a total lefty but she kept insisting to play it right handed. I finally gave in and tried it without reversing the strings. Guess what, she was right ( I think).
rickeymikeMemberBecome a member, Nick. It is more than worth it. There is Course Work and Concept Lessons that I’m sure will help you. Welcome.

rickeymikeMemberHi, Andrew,
Here is my completion of the September Challenge. I’m satisfied with the progress that I accomplished with 2 string fretting and plucking the correct strings while not looking (for the most part). I did particularly well with moving down and up the board. Please critique me mercilessly if I’m still not moving from the 4-4 fret to the 5-6 fret correctly. I said I didn’t want to play this anymore but I’ll reconsider if someday you could instruct on playing the original George M Cohen piece. Ha.
rickeymikeMemberI have that problem also. If you look at your left hand, palm side facing you with the thumb pointing at 10 o’clock. While playing, my thumb eventually goes to 2 o’clock and the more I remain in that position, the more I get a cramp in my lower left palm where the thumb meets the palm. I’m sure there must be some stretching exercises to get more flexibility and reach in that area. Maybe touching thumb to pinkie.

Here is my update video of Melody A for Yankee Doodle. Note that I did not use the index and middle fingers for the 5-6 pluck. Instead I used ring and middle fingers because I was having trouble with rotating my wrist to get into the correct position as you played it. Also, am I playing this a little “tinny”? Is it me or the uke or both? -
