Hi Ya’ll !
Here is my submission for this month coming from a scorching hot Maastricht. The weather has been exceptionally warm the last couple of days here in the south of The Netherlands, reaching temperatures of 35+ degrees, which leaves me with sweaty fingers and slippery strings (didn’t know that was a thing, or maybe it’s just me lol ) but regardless, i tried to make it work, even though i had a little mishap at the end. I am also learning better together, which is sooo much fun to play but i am hesitant to upload cause i sound like a screeching hamster with bronchitis.
soraya06MemberOoooh that is wonderful @rickymike ,i love that imagery, i can totally see it !

soraya06Member@mfaske my pleasure ! They are both such great ukelele players, really inspiring indeed, and the guys from ukelele underground are such a hoot, i always enjoy the challenge video’s they put up 😃
soraya06MemberReally ?!?! that is so cool ! Will do 🙂 Hahaha stroopwafels are really delish aren’t they ? Maastricht is, in my opinion, the most beautiful city in the Netherlands, its just so quaint and lovely. I grew up in Amsterdam but got really fed up with the big city life and wanted to live closer to nature and i have never regretted it 🙂 Maasticht has the best of both worlds, a lively city with lots of good restaurants, bars and theaters but also so much nature where you can enjoy the silence from time to time. I live only a ten minute walk from the woods and a twenty minute walk from the city center so that is just ideal 🙂
soraya06MemberThank you all for the wonderful and kind feedback on my song, really appreciate all the love !
@hotmilktea I can imagine, it’s a wonderful country to live in 🙂 Whereabouts in the netherlands did you reside ? i live in the south, in a town called Maastricht( although i was born and raised in Amsterdam) are you familiar with it ?
@joannetala Ow wow that is awesome ! I hope you have/had a wonderful time ! The weather is kinda fickle here lately going from rainy and cold to hot summer days, it’s strange. but today the sun is shining brightly and in the weekend it will be really warm around 25 celsius 🙂-

soraya06Member@stephen Thank you so much for your critique and great tips on how to reduce the nervousness on camera ! I will most definitely try to let the camera just roll and play it all the way trough a couple of times and then edit it to the best try, that is such an awesome suggestion that probably will do the trick 🙂 thank you for that and your kind words, i really appreciate all the effort you, andrew and the rest of the RC101 team put into helping us become better players !

I totally forgot about the may challenge so i learned and recorded this little tune at the last minute 🙂 Of course i got way too nervous in front of the camera, again , and almost slipped my left hand off the uke neck at one point hahahaa !!! It was fun to learn although it sounds a little weird with my low G set up, but it works 🙂 I really need a second uke in my life for all the high g songs so i am keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for a kanilea to cross the big seas soon 😉
soraya06MemberI looove the living water strings !!!They are absolutely the holy grail of strings for me, i just can’t imagine that other strings could possibly sound any better 🙂
I was in a similar situation as you. I bought a Pono ATD which had the ko’olau standard nylon strings with a wound 3rd string (which i hated with a passion ) And my uke sounded so incredibly flat and lifeless, i almost started to think i bought the wrong one. But then i did a little research into different strings and read lots and lots of reviews ( including the one from Baz who, by the way, also convinced me to go for the Pono ADT lol !) As soon as i put on the living water strings this glorious, full and clear sound came out of my uke, it sounded like a completely different instrument, i was in shock that it made such a radical difference !! I also noticed that the strings have a really pleasant “grip” that aids in fingerpicking more smoothly,if that makes any sense LOL ! I think i will never put any other strings on my pono 🙂
