Here’s my upload. I went for Toss a Coin to Your Witcher, which is a bit of stretch for my green ukulele skills, but the arrangement is so beautiful (Thanks, Matt! Brilliant work!) and the song so pretty, it’s something I want to continue playing and working on for a long time in the future.

Also… I’m very, very new to harmonics and know that I didn’t manage them well in this recording. Something I’m definitely still working on!

@funtime2018: Thanks, Marion! For my Cynthia Lin, I did change the strings recently, but just to a brand new set of Worth Browns. I think the new strings improved the tone a bit. Maybe a fresh set of strings will help?

    Here is my Rainbow Connection.

While this isn’t the most beautiful recording, it means a lot to me that I was actually able to get a recording done at all. I managed to slice my left-hand index finger with a kitchen knife early in the month, which sent me to the hospital, and my hand was in a splint for most of the month. I was really worried I might not be able to play ever again.

Happily, healing has gone better than anyone expected! With physical therapy started this month, I can fret notes again (without too much pressure on my index finger), and I can play for about ten minutes at a time. I’m so relieved! While it may not seem like much, this song is a victory lap for me. 🙂

Probably a bit silly for me to choose The Entertainer when I’ve only been playing the uke for 15 weeks, but I really love this song. I’m struggling with the harmonics – I’ve got natural harmonics figured out, but artificial harmonics are driving me crazy. My only decent video take has me skipping them and playing regular pitch. 😬

I’m really looking forward to practicing this more, smoothing it out, and getting better at harmonics. (I WILL conquer this thing). Thanks for the great arrangement!

I have an Ohana 35G all-solid mahogany concert, and it’s my favourite ukulele. I like it even better than my all-solid koa uke that cost 3x the price. My Ohana rings out like a bell, and the tone is beautifully clean and clear. Plays really well with both fingerstyle and strumming. (My koa uke sounds beautiful when strummed, but it’s a bit muddy when fingerpicked, and I’m mostly a solo fingerstyle player). My Ohana was professionally set up and bought from a reputable dealer. Like others have mentioned, the setup is important.

I also thought I’d mention that Ohana is a brand with a good reputation, especially with mid-range ukes, and that spruce/rosewood is considered a great tonewood combination. So it doesn’t sound like you would go too far wrong with the one you’re interested in.

This is my attempt at People Are Strange. I’ve only been playing the ukulele for a few weeks, so this was quite the challenge – but I definitely learned a ton from the experience. Looking forward to practicing this song more in the future.

This is my first monthly challenge! Here’s my attempt of “Out in the North” (chord melody). It’s been a fun challenge – I’ve only been playing the ukulele 8 weeks. I’m brand new. 🙂 Looking forward to improving even more.
