@simonalexander it’s really a fun song to learn to play. For me at least, there were a lot of “oh, that’s how you do that” moments in learning that song. You should definitely give it a go. I look forward to hearing your take.

Great job. I love it. The percussive hits add a lot to the song. I also love the lighting.

@Nathalie, Wow! That was amazing. I really felt that. Thank you. Are you just naturally good at this or did you have formal training…or both?

@Nathalie, Thanks for the kind words and encouragement. I can’t wait to hear your take on this song. You always do such a great job. I’m also hoping that they’ll do sheet music for Evan’s take on Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies. I’d love to be able to play that next Christmas, but that song is so far above me, I’ll probably need 9 months plus to be able to do a slow version of it. But that’d be soooooooo cool.

@Andrew, Thanks so much for the encouragement. Adding emotion to songs is one of my greatest challenges. As a bass player the conductor always tells us where to put the emotion. On the ukulele there’s no one with a baton telling you when and where to add dynamics and emotions. I miss the baton person (don’t tell them I said that)) 🙂 So I struggle with that on the ukulele. But, I’ll tell you a secret, I haven’t consciously put any emotions and dynamics into the song yet, so since it’s there, I must be doing it unconsciously and that takes a lot of pressure off me. Woo hoo! 🙂 Thanks for the kind words and encouragement.

    Andrew,
Congratulations for a great year and thank you. I’ve learned a tremendous amount.

As to suggestions, I’d love to see an Introduction to Hawaiian music course that teaches the technique and approach behind the songs. That’d be most cool.

    Cheers,
    Brian

Here’s my attempt at the Christmas Song. I learned a lot doing it, but I forgot thos was a short month. I need another week on this song. Oh well, here it is.

Here’s my entry for the November Challenge. Due to the holidays I had to move all my “Lights, Camera, Action” stuff out of my corner and had to sit in front of a computer to do this recording. It’s just not the same experience. I especially miss the coffee and donuts breaks.
Sigh. Oh well, there’s always next month…the word on the street is that one of the songs next month might be “Grorgia on My Mind.” Ok, that’s just the word on my street and I’m the one that started that rumour, but one can dream…and, and hope… 🙂

@Andrew Thanks for the kind words. I’d love to take all the credit for the tone, but I fear it’s probably more the instrument than me. I sound much better on my Kanile’a Tenor ukulele than my other ukelele, plus it’s easier to play. Kanile’a Rocks! Woo hoo!
