St. Anne’s Reel
willymacParticipantThanks Andrew. I will definitely do that, I’m also going to try to put emotion into it, that’s always been hard for me.
I got the hi G installed on the Kaniléa and have started working on St Anne’s Reel. I’m have also been working on Georgia On My Mind, and it turns out that it’s easier to play on the Kaniléa, so this is going to be fun. Woo hoo!

willymacParticipant@Andrew. Thanks, I’ll try a set of those nails. Although, they look a lot like the ones I use. I think mine look so prominent in the video because I put white surgical tape on the back of them because the edge of the nail next to the cutical was sometimes hooking the strings. Covering it with tape solved it. But unfortunately, when I tape something, by gum, it stays taped. I might have overdid the taping a bit. 🙂
I had never heard of Dave Kear before. He’s incredible, thanks for the recommendation. Hey you should arrange his version of “If I Only Had a Brain” for Ukulele and use all those fun strumming patterns in it. That song sounds tailor made for those style strums.

willymacParticipant@Andrew Thanks. I was indeed tapping my foot. I usually put a carpet fragment down to dampen the sound but I couldn’t find it this morning.
I love the nails. I use a classical guitar artificial nail (RicoNails) with nail glue, they’re a little thicker then fashion nails so they last longer and give a more musical tone then fashion nails.
I’ll work on the first part. That song was really challenging.
I’m very close to being ready to record Malaqueña. I can’t do it fast and smooth yet, but everyday I get just a little closer (although I’ve been saying that for two months 🙂

willymacParticipant@Andrew Thanks for the kind words. I love Kanile’a’s tone also. I haven’t been able to totally capture it on tape (I mean nano bops or whatever they call it now :-), but I’m slowly getting there. After our stay at home order is lifted I’m going to start calling my sound tech friends and see if any of them would like to help me capture it. Woo hoo!

Here’s my entry. I got a condenser microphone and tried to do a two microphone set up. Not sure I did it correctly, but it’s definitely louder. 🙂 Now onto Malaguena.
