    @Andrew, Thank-you so much for your critique and explanation of the subtleties and nuance of sustain. It’s interesting….I can hear the music and feel it, but I definitely need to work on the technicalities of playing in order to play expressively. Anyway, Rock class 101 is awesome…..I appreciate the time you have taken to review my piece.

    @The_bumble_bard
    thank-you for voicing what so many of us experience. It has made me realize that there is so much more to these challenges than just learning a new piece of music (though that’s a huge part of it.) I think we are also developing inner stamina, a discipline in itself.
    It’s kind of funny….the actual playing of my uke helps to relax and calm me thru all of this.

    Also, this idea of posting my imperfection is both frustrating and kind of exhilarating….I have to come to terms with ‘this is where I am now’….

    Well done morrieuke1….and Go Bills! The Sabres hat is a nice touch. We have a uke group that meets in the Southtowns every Wednesday night. If you are interested let me know and I can connect you….that is if you are actually in the area…or are you a fan from afar? Dianna

    Here is my attempt at Adilita….what a beautiful piece, thank-you to Steve for the arrangement..I do enjoy classical….I could have definitely used more time…I wanted more sustain and shmultz, which I was not able to accomplish. I was also having difficulty getting more sound out of my uke….I think I need new strings….but I didn’t want to change them before posting. Anyway, thank-you! I also wanted to say I have been enjoying all the other entries….well done!

    @The_Bumble_Bard “There should be a ukulele anxiety thread,”. Love this! It blows my mind, how after practicing and practicing, the second I turn the camera on or try to play in front of someone, my fingers turn to mush…..how interesting, that I am not the only one, and it’s more common than I realized. I love the mental aspect of this practice.

    Yikes! Full disclosure – Turns out, I realized I actually started in May not April. It was the Beatles challenge that pulled me in…and though it will be a year, I skipped one or two, so I have only completed 8 challenges, with every intention of continuing. So congrats to @leb397 for completing 12 and congrats to the rest of us for persevering and thank-you to the Rockclass101 team…..I’m really enjoying these challenges…….whew!

    I have also been trying to participate in each challenge. This April it will be a year worth of challenges. It has been fun, I have also experienced the same feelings of overwhelm, especially when trying to record! But, I think it says a lot for all of us who keep going….keep exploring all of these different aspects of playing….especially the mental. I do have a question, maybe I should pose it to @andrew – I have noticed that as soon as I move on to a new piece, I lose the last piece from my memory. I have other music that seems to stay with me always….but these pieces come and then go. Any thoughts on memory retention? Has anyone else had the same experience?

    @gi_gi_

    Yes Gigi! Thank-you….so true….Adelita does seem to be packed full with all the techniques….quite the challenge! Luckily, I started with Swan Lake in February….so I practiced the rest stroke, which was a good start for this piece. I find myself going in and out of the course as each technique presents itself. Also, I have had to create a road map, literally writing down which finger goes where for each measure, based on Stephens directions in the lesson. Good-luck and thanks again, Dianna

    Hi, I’m looking forward to this classical challenge, and would love to do the Adelita, but I feel that in order to fully imbibe the Classical Course I should probably practice the other pieces first. So, I’m wondering if the April challenge might also be a Classical challenge….if so….I could save the Adelita for April…..just a thought?…..thanks, Dianna…..

    It’s okay if it’s is not….I’m just trying to decide how I will approach this.

    Thank-you Andrew, Interestingly, as I try to slow it down, I end up speeding up towards the end….I guess tempo is my ultimate challenge as I make my way thru these pieces…something to be mindful of….Your critique is spot on and greatly appreciated.

    Celtic Etude Mini Lesson. Another opportunity to practice pull-offs and hammer-ons…because it was a mini-lesson it lended itself to looping. I think I did a little better this time…but still tricky…..especially that pull off from high D to B….Eeek! Very catchy tune, I enjoyed it…thank-you!

    OK….I think I figured it out…..where it says “video”….mine had two different lines for “claw hammer”. It was clicked on second instead of the top one….so I clicked on top one…and that seems to be working….not sure why or what it is……but as long as it works, I’m happy. I just got a new iPad, so the device may have something to do with it. I did try on my iPhone and that worked no problem….Anyway, thank-you….issue resolved!😁

    It’s not working for me at all….I’m in one of the strum courses and there is no sound on the play along sections.

    Thank-you Andrew. I will practice hammer ons and pull offs….I can hear it does sound more like a quick slur rather than articulating…thanks for the example…and the concept of looping…will work on it😁
