diannaParticipant@The_Bumble_Bard….. I guess I’m a little late to this conversation. First, thank-you for taking the time to comment on my submission. The fact that you have taken this time to listen and share your very positive feedback means a lot to me…….but it’s not just me, somehow you have found the time to do the same for all the submissions. I have tried to do that, but it’s a huge commitment! So I absolutely appreciate what you do. Like @gi_gi I have thought it would be much easier if this platform had the comment and like/love capabilities that a facebook platform has. But, it is what it is…..and somehow we do manage to engage with each other. That is because people like you make it happen. I loved what @terryfallon3 said…”Miss Bumble, you are a vital cog of this uke community….” So true…….you bring great energy to this forum and it certainly would not be the same without you! So cheer up…..we love your spirit and your inspiration!
diannaParticipant@4stringBoy welcome to RockClass101…..Interstellar was gorgeous….looking forward to hearing more of what you have to offer……If Interstellar is any indication…..you are definitely stepping it up a notch with harmonic challenges……very exciting!
I guess we are all going to have to go thru the harmonics course!

diannaParticipantWell, things have slowed down a little and I can breath a bit……at least until the end of the month…. I love these free choice months…..it’s fun to see what others have chosen to work on, which I find inspiring….and it’s fun to create my own path. That said, I am going to be boring and simply continue practicing the piece that I worked on last month….following @Andrew’s advice. I didn’t have a lot of time to work on it last month, but at least I was able to memorize it so I can now focus on the nuances of the piece.
1. Execution: Listen to @Andrew playing “Freight Train” section by section, following his lead
2. Application: practicing daily section by section incorporating nuances of the piece
3. Evaluation: Record and post, comparing last month’s posting to this month’s…..hopefully I will see imporovement…..Also, if there is time, I will also work on other pieces that I have posted this year like “12th Street Rag”…….but that is probably being overly optimistic….

diannaParticipant@Andrew…. Thank-you for the feedback….it really is a fun song….and I love the history of it….I just read that Elizabeth Cotton wrote it when she was just a teenager….also that she was a self-taught, left-handed, upside down guitar player….creating her own style of playing.
I think I realize that it takes time for me to memorize a piece and begin to make it mine….once I do that then I go back and rework the nuances, including rhythms and maintaining tempo throughout…. So as a result….I often run out of time🤪…..Then, I begin another piece for the following month and totally forget the last one I spent so much time memorizing….
I’m happy to see that August we can decide what we want to work on…..so I will stick with this piece and work on rhythm and consistent tempo throughout.
@Deadbuggy……congratulations….looking forward to hearing your selection! And also, enjoy your month off @Andrew……you deserve it! Have some fun!

diannaParticipantAnother busy month! (Lucky to get a submission in at all) This was a great challenge….I had a lot of fun going thru the Rockclass101 catalogue….so much to chose from! I chose “Freight Train,”….loved the Ukulelezaza arrangement. Still needs work….chord transmission issues and brain farts causing hesitations…..
I have tried to listen to most of the submissions…..great job uke friends!

diannaParticipant@The_Bumble_Bard….our pets are family too, no matter how long they have been with us♥️
As far as learning new pieces goes……it’s true we all have our own strengths and learning styles…….I love that Rockclass101 offers so many opportunities to practice and develop new skills and techniques……a ukulele enthusiasts treasure trove!
Good-luck….”Free Falling” is a great rhythmic/strumming piece to hone your skills….looking forward to seeing your performance…..
@gi_gi_ You are being too hard on yourself…….it was good and you have a beautiful voice!😁
@anyon1….Great job…..solid rhythm!June 8, 2025 at 8:48 am in reply to: Participate in the May 2025 Member Challenge – WIN $2,250 Kanile’a Ukulele #74153
diannaParticipantThanks @Andrew, I will absolutely check out Matt’s lesson……and will work on using my forearm in my strumming…….it makes a lot of sense…..I think putting a strap on that Uke might help too?

diannaParticipantOH @The_Bumble_Bard I’m so sorry to hear about your sweet little fur-baby…..♥️♥️♥️
@Gi_gi_ I remember you singing Summertime also……it was beautiful….I’m almost thinking we should repost it in this thread…..but I will let you be the one to decide…..😁
@leb397 and @The_Bumble_Bard I am definitely not one of the people who can practice for 2 days and have something to post…..it is quite the opposite….I usually feel I could use more than a month to prepare……I find I’m anticipating that first day of the month….(almost like Christmas) waiting to find out what our new tunes will be…..maybe he should post the last day of the previous month (he has done that before……) I’d probably still be anticipating….
Not sure which one to work on this month…..tough choice!

Hi Uke Friends, I have enjoyed listening to everyone’s submissions this month. As always, I’m so impressed with all the hard work, commitment and talent! This month I worked on Dock of The Bay….and here it is already the end of the month……so here goes. Fun little piece….thanks to Matt and Rockclass101 for a great arrangement.

diannaParticipant@shmu88 that was great….You make it look so easy, setting the bar high….I am also working on that piece….not easy! Sometimes I strum up when I’m supposed to strum down and visa-versa….will take some time to discombobulate my strum pattern.
@leb397 – Yes! I am becoming a little more patient with myself, because it does eventually start to come together….it does take a lot of repetition…over and over again….yes there is a level of frustration…but then I do seem to break thru….this does not necessarily mean it’s 100% by the time I post(more like 75-80%)….usually it needs more work…..and now I just try to keep them in rotation hopefully keeping them in my memory….continuing To practice at a much slower pace.-
