leb397ParticipantI chose YESTERDAY by the Beatles. tried learning this couple years ago and was way above my ability. I still have a lot to improve but on vacation and time is limited. I unfortunately only brought my high G. I know it would sound better with the low G. This gave my fingers a workout with some crazy shape cords.
Fun challenge to be able to pick our own lesson. Thanks @Andrew
leb397Participant@surferjay you have be missed. You were a main contributor few years back when I joined and looked forward to your entries. As @gi_gi_ said you never know what is taking place in our personal lives. @TBB said too, prayers to you and your loved ones and country. 🙏🫶

leb397ParticipantSo many great entries so far and the variety is fun to see. I just listened to @turkgoose and it was so good I started to drift off and then realized that You are the accompaniment! Such clean notes. 👏👏👏 kudos to all.

leb397Participant@TBB funny you remember the books. I used to read all the different endings too. Picks which I liked.
Good luck 🎼🎼January 31, 2024 at 3:12 pm in reply to: Participate in the February 2024 Member Challenge – Choose ANY Ukulele Song! #60487
leb397ParticipantYeah, choose your own adventure! My kids loved those books 😁. I’m in sunny FL for the month so I’ll figure out a plan. Love the 4/4 Waltz that was posted…. 🤔 to be continued!

leb397Participant@nat-uke I’m so glad you played Wildwood Flower. I had mentioned it in a post earlier, such a great clawhammer song. Nicely played on both instruments.
@janaq1 love your choice! Nice job.
@mysticrick well done and congrats on 1st entry. I like Freight Train.
@joe150 that is a beautiful uke! Congratulations again and keep it up!January 29, 2024 at 7:58 pm in reply to: Participate in the January 2024 Member Challenge – You Decide What To Work On! #60406
leb397ParticipantHad some extra time to go back and listen to other entries. I could comment on EVERYONE because you are all amazing. Really showing your talent and progress. Hope we have this challenge again. It shows the stages of each member.
@The_bumble_bard your composition sounds like a harp! So lovely. Impressed with your finger picking speed.👏😁
@jody_hendrickson I love St James Infirmary. Nicely done. Wish I could memorize the verses – so many.
@mark1256 I’d say you were successful. I like it.
@anyon1 I still have claw hammer on my to do list. I’m glad you shared issue with arm. I’m going to keep in mind. Nicely played. Look up wildwood flower by Carter family. Easy cords but pretty claw hammer tune
@leslieb you definitely have the chuck down! Someday I’ll get there 🧐
@sarrafina impressive. Very pretty song. You certainly have a future!
@bibilele wow I love it.
@brettboy what a fun, happy LOVE song. You always look so relaxed but I’m sure you put a few hours in to get those harmonics. 👏
Don’t mean to leave anyone out but EVERYONE nailed this month
PS to those that sung, men and women EXTRA kudos. You all sounded great-

leb397ParticipantPosting right after @misterbones clawhammer medley! Excellent. Sounds so good.
Here is my “ML019 Beautiful Cord Progression” I chose this because of the complicated “chucking” involved and my challenge was to improve my technique. It’s still a struggle but I know I’ve gotten “better”.
I spent the month working on the lagato, timing, and the chuck – Always room for lots of improvement. Getting the cord or strings not to “thud”/Mute in the high frets – argh!
Really loved seeing the progress others posted. Made me feel better in my own journey seeing everyone has to start in order to improve. Thanks Andrew and Stephen. LouisaSo many excellent entries but a few really stuck out
@gi_gi_ beautiful jazz feel and singing – I hope you perform live somewhere.
@marianne always love your entries – beautiful
@ukandrea – lovely duet with piano – I admire your musical talent playing both
@lyndallk – nicely played and the jazz feel, really liked it.

leb397Participant@andrew really liked your “chuck” demo on the two styles. I know slap method wont work on ML 019 but hearing both with a count helped clarify the styles. Thanks for demo Louisa

leb397Participant@mark1256 I like it. The strum/ picking combination is pretty. Sounds like your pup enjoyed it too 😆

leb397Participant@mark1256 I agree with you on Sawlon piece. You have the right idea to compose your own piece from the selections you have found. Love hearing it on original violin. Good luck
