lhamiltonParticipantThanks, @Andrew! I notice I was holding my uke more comfortably this time too. And I had a much easier time putting the sound with the video this time. I’ll keep working on this piece. It’s one I really enjoy playing.

lhamiltonParticipantHi,
I worked on Pineapple Uke Blues this month. I’d really enjoyed working on it the first time but had forgotten how to play it. I’m not sure how much better I now sound with it, but I find I’m playing it much more confidently — I’m sure my heart isn’t racing the way it did the first time I recorded it for RockClass101.

lhamiltonParticipantHi,
This month I’d like to work on Pineapple Uke Blues. I’ve really enjoyed it but noticed that I’ve forgotten how to play it. I’d like to be able to do it more fluently and maybe remember how to play it for a while longer.

lhamiltonParticipantThanks,@The_Bumble_Bard! We’re struggling out from a ton of snow here in Toronto too.

lhamiltonParticipantHi,
This month I worked on the Magic Ukulele Waltz. I’m nervous about parts C and D and it definitely shows. I also inadvertently put in a repeat of A at the end but left it alone.
I’ve recorded onto my macbook from the iRig and put the video together with iMovie. I’m still not very good at matching up the sound with the video so left the tapping part in for safety. I discovered that I can’t record if the macbook is plugged in — otherwise I get an unremoveable hum throughout the recording.

lhamiltonParticipantThanks, @stephencox! I’m really enjoying the u-bass, and the arrangement was lovely!

lhamiltonParticipantHi @The_Bumble_Bard — yes, the U-Bass is tuned EADG from lowest to highest — the opposite actually of a violin or mandolin which is GDAE. That means that at the 3rd fret you get GCFBb which is a good set of bass notes for a lot of songs.

lhamiltonParticipantThanks @The_Bumble_Bard! U-Bass is a very different instrument to play compared to my regular ukes. It’s tuned in 4ths with the setup essentially making the circle of 5ths really simple to implement — which is terrific for using the U-Bass as an accompaniment instrument or the rhythm bass for a group.

lhamiltonParticipantHi @leb397 — It’s possible to save a video from the iPad to Files on the iPad and then copy the file to the PC over your wifi.

lhamiltonParticipantWow! Thanks @Andrew!
One thing I learned in syncing video with audio by the way is that it really helps to tap my uke a few times before starting to play. I can then line up those taps from the lower-quality video audio with the higher quality direct-to-computer audio recording to match everything up before zeroing the audio from the video.

lhamiltonParticipantHi,
I managed to record my bass directly to the macbook into Garage Band using my iRig as I recorded the video on my iPad. I then worked with the audio and video to match them up. It was an interesting exercise. I’m getting more comfortable with the bass and really enjoyed Stephen’s arrangement of Gabriel’s oboe.
