I think you did a great job Lisa on both! I am not ready with Shadow Land….the same part you are talking about….I can’t do it smoothly yet or with speed. The uke has helped me with patience!

    Hi Andrew,
Thanks for the feedback! I really appreciate it.
Yes, I need to spend more time practicing 2 bars at a time and putting it together. I think doing this with the tab viewer will help. Most times I have a pause, I’ve forgotten what to do.

I need to go back to read about picado; I can’t recall what is it. For this song I used my thumb for strings 3 & 4, first finger for string 2 and my middle finger for string 1. My natural tendency is to play 1 finger per string…like when playing Allegro that is easier.

Thanks! (I have so many songs on my list to learn….but they take awhile to get down. I’ve memorized 6 so far)

Thanks Andrew- will do. I need to use the tab viewer more than I do. I learn bar by bar via your videos and play sections. But I’ve not used the actual tab viewer as much as I should to get the timing and tempo down. Thanks! I will check Bar 11….I thought I had it memorized by now!! haha

Thanks Lisa, I appreciate that. I too love this song and really wanted to be able to play it. I still try the stretch chords on my tenor regularly but not there yet—

Here is my August submission for Swung vs Straight 8th Note Rhythm
I enjoyed this because I’m wanted to improve on fingerpicking and developing more feeling into the music.

Thanks Andrew. Yes, I’m going to keep practicing ATB to get it to flow and be smoother. I’ll figure something for the video. I’m using my phone, but I’ll adjust things to get a better angle. Thx!

Here is my video for America The Beautiful.
This one took me awhile to learn. Once I got it, this is the tempo I’m able to play now.
I’ll look to get more efficient with more practice.

I’m posting an update to my July 3rd video. This is a little closer to the tempo.

I’m fairly new to Rock Class 101….just joining in early June. I’ve been playing now for about 3 months. So there is ALOT for me in the current site. I’ve been through the beginners class and am participating in the challenges. I’ve memorized 5 songs just from this alone.

*I’m not looking to learn the UBass- at least for now
*I do have a Low G ukulele, so I’m looking forward to lessons for that
*I’ve found that I really like fingerpicking
*interest in more blues and jazz songs (low G will be good for jazz)
*I absolutely want to learn Standard Notation–

I love this site and your tutorials…and posting videos for critique. It provides something to work towards. I feel I’ve improved already.

One thing that bothers me (and maybe the standard notation will help). I feel like I’m learning the songs…and by practicing them, I’m memorizing them. I love that, but in some cases, I don’t feel I know what I’m playing. I’m not memorizing what chords….and with the various voicings, I’m definitely not remembering them all.

My goal is to feel more musical and understand what I’m doing as well as learning and playing songs. Hopefully that makes sense.

    Thanks Andrew-
    Maureen

I’m posting my Yankee Doodle video today–
I’ll keep practicing this month and post again later in the month when it’s smoother, but I
want to start working on America The Beautiful to see if I can do it….

    Happy 4th of July!

    Hi Everyone,
Here is my video submission for Waltz in C.
I’ve been learning this song for the last 8 days or so.
Clearly, I require more practice but this is where I could get to by today.

It will be fun to see progress over time.
