@leb397 harmonics is another one of those techniques that sound so beautiful on the uke, and you made them sound effortless! Really loved your Amazing Grace performance.

@the_bumble_bard Great job pulling that together and getting it recorded on such a tight timeline!I just watched all the submissions and was especially impressed by everyone’s chunking. I love that percussive sound – it’s so distinctive to the ukulele, but surprisingly hard to get right. I’ve tried learning it on and off over the years, and only recently got to the point where my chunks don’t sound horrible 😂
Really enjoyed watching everyone take it on. Bravo, everyone! 👏

This month I continued my journey through the Pathways course and took on the Quartet Challenge with “Misirlou” using the tremolo picking technique.
Wow, tremolo picking is tough! 😅 I struggled with it and am definitely still working on it, but I had a lot of fun with this challenge. I’m pretty happy that I managed to rock along with the band on both the lead and rhythm parts! 🤘🎶
Still lots of room for improvement, so any tips or feedback on my playing are always appreciated!

@brettboy I’m very sorry to hear about your injury. That really sucks! Your perfect attendance over the past 10+ years (IIRC) is incredibly admirable. I’d sit this challenge out and give your wrist all the time it needs to fully heal. Wishing you a speedy recovery!

I really enjoyed learning the beautiful French love song La Vie en rose for this month’s challenge. It was a pleasure exploring its elegant melody and expressive phrasing, and I gained a deeper appreciation for the song’s timeless charm.

I chose The River Song for the May Challenge. I love this composition by Stephen and all the wonderful renditions shared here. @gigi, I especially enjoyed your performance.
I played it on a high-G ukulele, so it may sound a little different to your ear.

Hi RC101, here’s my submission for the April challenge.
A couple of caveats: for this recording, I chose not to play along with the backing track—the 75% tempo still feels a bit Olympic for me—so I’m sharing my progress focusing on the lead ukulele melody only. Also, some notes may sound a little different since I’m playing on a high G; my low G is currently in storage and not easily accessible.
I’ll keep practicing and hope to share a version with the backing track in the future.

I couldn’t resist learning another waltz – they always pull me in. Here’s my performance of “Tennessee Waltz” for the February Challenge.

@The_Bumble_Bard this is probably the longest piece I’ve had to learn and play on RC101. I wanted to tackle it when it first came out – I’m a total sucker for 3/4 time and waltz and never get tired of listening to them . I especially love how @andrew combined the lead and rhythm parts into a single arrangement to be played together.
I haven’t spent much time yet on troubleshooting my recording setup, so I’m still figuring out the best way to capture the sound cleanly. Not sure what’s the best way to troubleshoot sound cutting in and out! It could be the way my equipment is set up. I’m using DJI Pocket 3 with a remote mic and need to read up and experiment a bit more.

My 1st post for this month’s challenge:
1) Execution
My goal is to improve my ability to play in an ensemble setting.2) Application
I really love Adrian’s composition for The Aching Waltz. I’ll be learning Andrew’s version and practicing both the lead and rhythm parts against the backing track, aiming for 75% speed.3) Evaluation
I’ll be heavily leveraging the Tab Play-Along for practice and looping, and will record my playing every 12–16 bars for review, working toward memorizing and performing the entire piece.I AM A PREMIUM MEMBER
