    I AM A PREMIUM MEMBER.

I had to make a last minute switch to submit Aura Lee.

I was gunning for Danger Zone this month but I couldn’t quite get it together in time for this month. I found it ok to play along by myself with the tablature but as soon as I played with the band, it was like another level and I couldn’t keep up. More time and practice needed for sure.

As a side note, I’m wondering if it’s possible to have the Tab Play Along with only backing track sound (without ukulele performer) as an intermediate step so I get some visual help with the rhythm but without Evan playing. Do you think this will help me bridging across to completely rely on the backing track along?

I’m newbie and had the same question when I saw a 5 stringed uke on sale on UkeRepiblic. The discussion here really helps. Thank you!

@dirk55 – I’m curious to know if you managed to fix it?

    Great choice! Thanks for sharing.

I’m browsing this forum to get some idea of my next uke. Concert Kala ziricote looks beautiful and sounds great.

Andrew – Thanks for the feedback and the links to the lessons. I will let you know my progress.

Re Populele, I agree with what you said in the review. Populele is my first uke (a surprise present) and while I had fun initially learning to play it via their App, I quickly outgrew its learning platform for the same reasons you mentioned in your review. Since then I have always wondered what an acoustic uke feels and sounds like in my hands lol

My goal was to reward myself a new uke after completing 10 consecutive monthly challenge (completed 7 so far). After seeing your feedback, I might reward myself one sooner 🙂

This is my 7th consecutive monthly challenge. I chose La Donna è mobile this month. This is probably one of the most difficult tunes I had learned here. Lots of first time techniques to learn for me like staccato, vibrato and harmonics, etc, which I need to revisit after this challenge. Other than more practice time needed on various techniques, I find the tapped harmonics on the last bar the most difficult. I don’t seem to be able to produce the sound Andrew demonstrated. The AH on my Uke sounds very faint. Could this be instrument dependent?

As usual, any feedback will be appreciated

    I AM A PREMIUM MEMBER.

I had fun learning my second Beetles tune, Yellow Submarine, arranged by Matt, in my 6th consecutive monthly challenge.

While I couldn’t get a take without making mistakes I enjoyed playing this timeless tune.

    Any feedback is appreciated.

Hi Andrew, this is not a new submission of April Challenge but a slightly improved performance (take 2) over my previous submission on Prelude in C. It still has many mistakes and inconsistent rhythms but I’m sharing again to get feedback. Thank you!

I picked Prelude in C for my 5th monthly challenge and it’s the most difficult piece I have ever done and I almost gave up while learning the 2nd measure. I persevered and it was very rewarding experience as I learned so many new chords. I did slow the tempo down but still made a bunch of mistakes during chords transitions. I plan to continue practice this piece until I can play it flawlessly one day.

Thanks Steven for arranging it so beautifully. Any feedback is appreciated.

    Hi RockClass101,

I’m a premium member and this is my 4th monthly challenge. This month I really enjoyed learning the song, Into the Maze, by Andrew.

Self critique and opportunities for improvement: despite repeated practice, I could not get a clean take and tripped up from time to time on the chord transition to Fadd9(1). Also the run on the melody A from G to G(1) can be tighter.

Anyway I enjoyed learning a new flick technique on the first string during strumming. I also practiced the 2 finger taught by Andrew but decided to stick with the 4 finger approach as I wanted to try more flicking technique this time round.

Thank you and appreciate any feedback.

    Hello RockClass101,

I’m a premium member and this is my third monthly challenge. Glad to have kept it up so far.

I learned a few new techniques this month including the swing rhythm and offbeat strumming and the lovely Beach Boys arrangement by Matt.

My submission still has quite a few mistakes here and there and I would appreciate feedbacks on the areas I can improve the tone and rhythm.

    Hello RockClass101,

I am a premium member and this will be my second monthly challenge.

I’m a beginner and I had fun learning 2 songs this month – “Dream a Little Dream of Me” and “Here Comes the Sun”.

I decided to record and share my playing of “Here Comes the Sun”. I had to play at a slower tempo to be in control and reduce mistakes. Thanks for listening and feedbacks to help me improve are very welcome and appreciated.
