    Heyho rockclass,

this month i gave my best to perform “Duality”. A great little tune and also wonderful played by Evan. I did’nt expected, that the cordchanges in the harmonypart are so tricky to do and they are still. Two weeks i had a great “Buzz-fest” and i was nearly desperate … but i got it down somehow. 😏

I’m deeply impressed by all those great entries this month, especially by hearing @Marianne’s wonderful “Contemplations”. 🥹

    Hey Matt,

I find it difficult to get used to the sound of my uke when I record it with a pickup. Sure, every little mistake is immediately audible, and the pressure to avoid it increases. But there’s also this “technical” sound – nothing like the natural sound when I record with my smartphone, for example. My uke simply sounds more like the instrument I’m holding and hearing; with a pickup, it somehow becomes a little foreign to me.
I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels this way.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of a pickup vs. a microphone for you?

@Andrew: Thx for your friendly feedback. The bendings are one of some more issues since i blow the dust of my Tenor Uke and restringed it low g (maybe it still falls out of tune a bit faster as i recognized 🤔). It’s also a long time ago since i recorded everything directly via pickup and daw – you can hear everything very clearly …. for good and for bad.
I hope for another challenge in low g – so i can practice on those issues! 🤗

Thank you for the friendly feedback (as always ☺️)I’ve got not much experience with daw’s, plugins etc. It’s more like: “Uhhh, whats that? Yeah – sounds nice! … And this here? Yes – sweet! ….and so on. It’s definitly fun to play around with all those effects and i’m sure, that i’ll use it more in the future but i will take more time and care for “natural sounding” results.

    Heyho Rockclass,

here comes my fresh attempt of “Always with me”.
It stills such a joyful tune and i think i reached my settled goals by playing it. I put some effects over it, i think it suites the song.

It’s great to see how time and practice effects in everyones playing here and thrilling to hear your tunes from the past in a “new-spring-dress”.

    Heyho Rockclass,

it’s one year ago that i tryed to play Stevens wonderful arrangement. Many issues left to improve: steady tempo, steady Hammer-ons and Pull-offs, playing verse 2 correct …. best requirements for the actual challenge. I also want to “roll” the chords because i worked for some time at technique and here*s the chance to try it out.

    Heyho Rockclass,

i’d running out of time but i worked hard to get this wonderful tune down and i want to share it. It’s definitly not in my League but absolute fun to play! 😃
I’m very thankful to be introduced to the wonderful cosmos of Roy Smeck.

Andrew …. If i see the actual march-challenge ( … i know, what to choose for ) and imagine you do this again in one year i definitly would return to the future with this song.
I was flashed about all the great entries last month – you all did it great!
…..and how many challenged this Waltz – Respect!

    Hohoho Rockclass,

I had a lot planned but unfortunately didn’t manage to edit a video with my furry singing friend.

The song was definitely a real challenge… and then singing it…😅 Since I had only learned the verses, the tempo was right for them, but I couldn’t manage it for the solo.

I send warm hugs to the whole community here. I thank you for all the kindness and the great exchange and I thank @Andrew (and all the other fantastic teachers) for this fantastic platform, which keeps challenging my passion for the instrument and thus allows it to grow steadily.

I’m giving $20 to the Ukulele Kids Club

A peaceful Christmas and a great start to the new year to you all,

    Heyho @andrew,

i tried a mad time to post something. Nothing appears here 😰. Time ist running out – are there any hints for me to solve my Problem?

    EDIT
… It worked with a YT-video, the issue was about embedding soundcloud….

    @Andrew

Thank you very much for the kind (and honest 😂) words. Maybe it would have been better to record each part separately and not the whole tune, but that was the goal I had set for myself. Now I’ve hammered it into my fingers so many times that i’ll never forget this etude.☺️
By the way, it was at 165 and not 156 bpm as i wrote … crazy!
