Participant@evapaju In fairness the first one I broke was my fault as I was tightening the string with my tuner set to guitar not uke.
The other two times it was the A string and they broke in different places. I think the nut on my Uke could provably do with being filed down as the strings dont seem to sit inside the nut like on my other ukes so this could be the problem.
I just put on some Nylon strings which were the only ones available locally. The sound is a bit muted for my taste.
Im going to order a few brands and get a proper setup. Thanks for the input.

ParticipantWOW! That was some super clean playing, played with confidence.. You owned it 🙂

ParticipantWorking on the solo. Interesting stuff, lots of practise needed.

Participant@recdog interesting! The action is more of a problem for me at the nut slot. I have to press down really hard to get a clean sound and also preferably play closer to the first fret marker than the nut itself otherwise I get a muted vibration type sound. I’m sure a setup would fix this.
It would be great actually to get a couple of saddles with different heights to play with.. I think only then I would know what I prefer as I have nothing really to measure it against.

ParticipantWipeout is a very cool song. Check out Honoka & Azita… & also Taimane they both have awesome versions of this on the Uke.
All the sizes have their own distinct sound. I have 2x cheap sopranos, a cheap Kala Concert & A Cordoba Electric Tenor. I pretty much only play the Tenor.
It’s great to watch everybody grow as musicians it’s a very fun journey to be on.

Participant@charles605 that’s awesome, being honest I did not know that was a thing. That’s the great thing about the Uke there are so many styles.
Playing or hearing others especially live is a great motivator. I started playing the Uke back in November 2020. I had a little Mahalo Soprano which I brought for my daughter. I played it for 3 months then put it down for probably the same time after that as I’m not much of a singer and got mixed reactions haha
I went away with some friends for the weekend and he plays the bouzouki. Cut a long story short he plugged it in and started playing and I was like this is unreal. It was so enjoyable to sit in the warm evening listening to a live performance.
Feeling inspired I brought a Concert, then A Tenor, then an amp then a loop pedal and I’m working on making my own live set.
I would never have got this far without 1. This site 2. Being inspired by other amateur musicians 🙂

ParticipantHaha that is so awesome. I haven’t been able to find a ukulele community near me. I brought my daughter A ukulele buddy which allows you to play by just pressing buttons so hopefully I’ll have a jam partner 😎

ParticipantMine, never got a setup and is higher than 2.5 . It definitely makes it harder to play. I’m going to take mine to get lowered to 2.5 and also put on some Low G’s and new tuners.

Participant@jeg143 thanks for the info im leaning towards a flight. The reviews on the internet seem to say at their price point they are the goto brand (around the £500 mark).
I have A Cordoba which I like (solid spruce top/laminate mango sides) I just don’t know how much better a Flight will be or if I jump in and go for a K brand and add a bit more. But then I tell myself I should probably play it first if I’m going to spend that much.. unfortunately where I live it’s literally Kala or Kala 🎸
Might wait for a trip to the UK before purchasing.

ParticipantI recorded this loop this morning for you 🙂 As you can see the display is really interactive and lets you know what stage of the loop you’re at and also what mode you are in i.e Record/Overdub etc.
Hope this helps 🙂

ParticipantSounds great! I’m considering a Flight🎸

ParticipantHonestly it’s really good value. No complaints whatsoever.
Pros:
1. You can create loops.
2. When you turn it off the loops are saved (on the Boss it does not save).
3.You can copy backing tracks to it so have backing tracks on demand and portable (without the need for internet/phone).
4. You can copy your loops to a computer and share them. So I could record a loop send it to you and you can use it as a backing track or add to it and send it back to me.
5. The interface is really helpful and you can easily tells where you are in the loop.
6. It’s really cheap.The Bad.
I have no complaints but..1. It can be difficult to copy some backing tracks if they are not compressed enough. I’ve always managed in the end but you have to shrink their size and save them as a WAV.
2. The output is Mono. Sounds decent to me.
3. I’ve heard that if you are importing the loops into editing software there are issues with sound. I have no idea if this is true.
Overall it’s cheap enough to see if looping is for you. I would upgrade it if there was something better but there really isn’t for what I need all the more expensive Boss models have lots of features like built in drum beats more slots, loop reverse.. I just don’t need that.
I’m pretty much using loops exclusively now when I play. It’s jus a more immersive experience (for me). Im planning to do a sweet child of mine loop using Evans tab on here but it’ll have to wait as I have so much to learn on here also 🙂
Let me know how you get on 😎
Here is clip of the Loop Pedal.
